^Johnny controls the play in a game he doesn't chase it. It's part of the reason he's been successful wherever he's played.

I think trying to assign a value to Johnny should't be limited to on ice production. Has anyone generated more excitement or more attention to the Flames brand than Johnny hockey. How much is that worth?

The fact that everyone knows that between 7 and 7.5 for 7 years is a fair number and they're still not done is infuriating.

I didn't know that. I'd be disappointed with that actually... 6.75 x 7 years and 7-7.5 on an 8 year deal I think is fair for both sides.

It's entirely possible that the deal is already done and that they simply haven't filed it with the league. Most reports were it wouldn't be announced until tomorrow anyway.

Also, they are probably flying back tonight, so they can smuggle Johnny to the Saddledome for a surprise press conference tomorrow morning. It will be WWE style, and he won't be there at first. Clearly last night's "sources" were full of crap, which is disappointing. I still have a tiny shred of hope that this will get done before opening night, but at this point it's looking less likely. These guys need a strong start this year, and the last thing they need is to kick off the season without our most dangerous offensive weapon. Please Brad, for the love of humanity, just get this done already!

What in the hell are you going on about? Clearly, you did not carefully read what MattyC posted last night. His source informed him that a deal could be signed as early as today, NOT that it was certain to happen.

I am almost completely convinced that a long term deal still gets done before Wednesday.

Have you seen the Flames line-up for tonight's game? If anything it will increase the focus on Johnny being (or not being) signed.
