Bo Levi Mitchell has been fined for his tweet that started the firestorm in Regina.
Calgary Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell says he is being fined by CFL commissioner Jeffrey Orridge for a tweet that he sent out last week about the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Mitchell announced the news on the Hustler and Lawless show on TSN Radio 1290 Winnipeg on Tuesday.

They have a month to pick them, per source. Says a lot about how much Stamps wanted/needed get $ off the books. #CFL
Just a guess but Cordarro Law has been on their radar since April. Law seems to just be waiting it out, last I heard. #CFL

Fined for showing up the league and exposing its backroom handshake deals.
Back in the day, if there was this scrutiny, the blatant Esks/Hugh Campbell usage of an Alberta Court of Queens bench and Esks season ticket holder, to overturn the suspension of AJ Gass for throwing a Stamps helmet, wouldn't have flown either...or gotten fined.

Wasn't Shivers a big part of the Stamps talent scouting pipeline? Huf must still have a good relationship with him. Hopefully this is still taking advantage of the best from that pipeline for the future in exchange for some good talent today.

There is no back room shinanigans going on in any other pro league? Once again the CFL gets #### on, but when their is spying and ball deflation in the NFL it's immune to being called "bush league".

You are not paying much attention if you think that Roger Goodell and the NFL have not been called "bush league" for their handling of the Deflategate scandals, concussion issues, and other domestic violence cases.
NFL has probably been under more scrutiny over the last 3 years than any other professional league.
CFL gets #### on too because they deserve it as well.

You want bush league? How about Duron Carter's appeal for his suspension for an incident that took place on June 30th finally taking place this week.
The league punishing a team for cheating, breaking uniform rules, breaking stadium entrance rules etc is not bush league. Nor is fining a player for tweets that put the league in a bad light.
The only real issue here is how much they fined the Riders, although it sounds like it was the max allowed, and how long it took them to investigate. By all accounts they were aware of it. Should Bo be protected by some sort of whistleblower rule? Hard to say, was it actually his tweet that caused the CFL to investigate? Or was the fact that seemingly everyone already knew proof that the league probably knew themselves? We probably will never know. At the end of the day, unless Bo can prove he had previously reported it thru the proper channels first and then resorted to exposing it in the media, I think the fine is deserved.

It's been well documented that the league investigation into the Riders roster shenanigans began in late July (Suitor mentioned it during the Stamps - Riders game this past weekend). All Bo's tweet did was bring it out into the open.

Come on man. I'm one of the biggest CFL supporters you will find but I know fully well it's operated like a Mickey Mouse league. The Riders housing and paying a full roster of practice players is a major scandal and if Mitchell didn't bring it to the forefront in the media I have little doubt the league would have kept this very quiet fining the Riders a much smaller amount trying to sweep it under the rug.

Well yeah but quite a few fans, I won't say which team they cheer for, appear to think that is false and that the league is lying and if it wasn't for Bo there would have been no investigation and fine.
Ahem...

I think the point is that there is a lot of "sweeping under the rug" in every pro league, so why does such sweeping only attract a 'bush league' comment when its the CFL under scrutiny?
I'm thankful for the CFL as an entertaining game with moderate yet quality media coverage (thanks TSN and QR770) and the only pro league i enjoying following without feeling the shame of paying into wealthy pockets.

Because we are talking about a league with a salary cap that doesn't disclose salaries. How messed up is that? Hard to take a league seriously when it's a mystery what players get paid. Don't get me started about team hiring coaches off other teams when they are still under contract. That doesn't happen in any other sport or the real world where contracts are binding. Even Mitchell's mystery fine should be fully disclosed. Was it $250 or $5000? I guess in the eyes of the CFL fans don't need to know if the fine is legit or not.
Duran Carter got a one game suspension over a month ago and still hasn't served it. What's the reason for such a long appeal for a pretty straightforward incident where he contacts a coach? Probably waiting to suspend him to a game of the Alouette's liking.
It's 2016 and the league needs to be transparent or it's simply never going to be taken seriously.

Pretty sure there was some winking and nudging behind closed doors in the Wideman disciplinary process last season - does that make the NHL bush league? Transparency in the NHL? lol
And contracts are broken every day out there.
These are not just CFL issues.
