NO. When it actually comes to Wideman himself the case is closed. This court battle is about precedent for the arbitration process. If the league wins it limits how an arbitrator can rule, if the NHLPA wins it will allow the next arbitrator to follow the same path.

My understanding is if the ruling is thrown out and the original suspension upheld, Wideman has to sit out one more game AND give back the lost salary that was returned to him for the 9 games he sat out.

so much for the arbitrators decision being final, I thought this dog and pony show was more or less for future events

I love when it comes to sports everyone forgets that it's actually a business and run as such.

Kind of like how Edmonton has been a circus of futility, failure and a showcase of poor decision making for the better part of a decade but was rewarded year after year after year with a No. 1 pick for their continued and ongoing ineptitude?

Dude. We sit here and mock Oiler fans when they try to distract discussion with irrelevant shots at the Flames. Don't behave like them and distract this discussion with irrelevant shtos at the Oilers.

This is incorrect. If the NHL wins this lawsuit, it would set aside the arbitration decision and the NHL penalty would still stand.
