Betman made a solid point regarding expansion fees on Primetime Sports this week. Expansion fees are one thing, but it also means an additional partner to divide league revenues like T.V. etc.

Being that Rogers/Bell owns the Leafs, most likely the genesis of another team in the GTA will begin with the ending of that partnership and one organization getting an expansion team (most likely Bell).

TSN will feel the real effect of the Rogers NHL deal during the playoffs. A new team would basically mean new content for Bell.

Update: NHL to Las Vegas looking more like a done deal, perhaps even in time for the 2016-17 season.

I'm kind of surprised this actually went through, still have my doubts on their success.... but I guess there is some pride to being the first of the major sport teams to (hopefully succeed) in Vegas... I guess we will see.

Regardless of the teams name, they better list odds on when the team moves from Las Vegas. Would only make sense that people can get down on such a huge gamble.

I'm not a huge vegas fan, I've been there a couple times and couldn't really be bothered to go back again but I would honestly go down there to see an NHL game or two.

I'm always surprised when people who love hockey are opposed to trying to grow the game.

Texas and California now produce hockey players. There are rinks and high school teams. This is a result of NHL expansion.

How does this harm anyone?
