Good, it will make him easier to trade in year 3 or 4 of the deal to a poor team wanting to reach the cap floor. That's assuming the Flames don't need to keep him to reach the cap floor.

Stajan is a better bottom six hockey player who is capable of filling in on the top six without adversely impacting the team.

He's paid at or below market value and he fills a need. We weren't going to get someone better at that amount, and paying more for someone different turns a lateral move into a negative one.
