for anyone that maybe looking for a Classic and quickly appreciating 1970 Z28, I'll be putting mine up for sale early spring. Its a documented Z28 with some pretty rare options (M22 w/4.10 rear end). Drivetrain fully rebuilt including a NOM LT-1 (a lot of NOS parts were scavenged and used for this build), trans and diff. It has undergone a color change way back when, which is a bit of a downer, but it was done correctly and shows very well. These first year 2nd gen Z's are rare and getting really hard to find in good shape

Id post a pic, but Im useless at doing that on this board...

Theres an Alphard that lives about 5 blocks from me, pass it while walking the dog all the time. Older one though, I would say 2008ish

Can't really make a statement about kicking supercar ass and then say "Yeah, but price" when told that the majority of today's supercars are capable of doing 3.6 seconds 0-60 MPH during their engine break-in periods. 3.6 seconds in a fat 5,534 lb SUV out of the factory is impressive on its own merits. Mine only does that because I spent $3k in parts and some software fiddling, and I don't get a warranty.

Can't help you, BigNumbers, but I'll bump the thread with a question of my own:

Anybody ever bought a new Hangcha electric lithium ion forklift?

Currently have an old Toyota forklift, but looking to modernize and Hangchas are crazy cheap and lithium ion would be sick.

Hopefully this is one step towards direct to consumer sales - right now it appears Amazon is just a middle man between the dealership and the buyer. A direct sales model like the one Tesla uses (or tries to use) would be so refreshing...

I'm in the market for a mechanically decent older car for the kid to drive; at first part time, and then take over next year as he starts his career after high school. Any thoughts on where to buy? Not all that interested in all the curbers on FB or Kijiji. How is a place like House Of Cars? Budget of around 3-4K. Bless his heart, he wouldn't mind a 5 speed.

Avoid House of Cars like the plague. Go on the "Ask Calgary" facebook group and type in "house of cars" to read all the horror stories.

House of cars is very shady. 3-4K budget is going to be a tough go.

I’ve lost three Canadian Tire batteries on my old Odyssey in the last three months. The first was under a year old, the next two were warranty replacements that lasted a month each. Failed as in bad cells and not chargeable. All failed during cold weather but I doubt that’s the main issue. We only drive it every couple of weeks but that’s never been a problem before.

If it’s not a bad batch of batteries, what can kill a battery in a parked vehicle?

Lots of variables at play, but you’re driving @ 55% CCA?

And it’s -20 in Calgary? Replace it.

A small parasitic draw will kill a battery in Calgary winter temperatures, especially if you only starting the vehicle once every two weeks. Use a Kirkland brand battery next time and swap it out every three years. You can find lots of youtube tutorials on how to diagnose a parasitic draw by pulling fuses.

Did you make sure to get the battery to a full charge (ie: trickle charger or a drive to Canmore and back) before letting it sit idle?

If it wasn't fully charged, then the fact it can drop too low can be a problem, even if it is new. It's also possible that it's a culmination of factors. Maybe slightly incorrect storage from Canadian tire (if original and replacements were from same store/batch) and perhaps some issue with the same batch (so replacements are still subject to the same issue)?
