Always thought He-Man was pretty silly, and a movie version would have to be a more tounge-in-cheek style comedy to work live-action.
Isn't Prince Adam supposed to be a little boy that transforms into He-Man? I think studios may have a hard time with the whole boy-to-man thing, as it plays weird for love interests and for female fans who may want to fawn over the hero, Thor-style. So looks like they just skip it here, which kinda undermines the fun of it, I think. And money-wise, I think you hit a bigger audience if you make Prince Adam a teenager. I think the audience for this is too old now, and their kids are too old. There was no 90s-00s era He-Man that excited kids then who are now parents with young kids and want to bring them to He-Man. There are 80's kids that love He-Man that are now in their 50's and their kids are in their 20's and don't GAF about He-Man.

I think skipping the boy-to-man thing is probably fine.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I am Adam, Prince of Eternia and defender of the secrets of Castle Grey-Skull. This is Cringer, my fearless friend.
Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me the day I held aloft my magic sword and said: "BY THE POWER OF GREY-SKULL!" "I HAVE THE POWER!"
Cringer became the mighty "Battle-Cat" and I became "HE-MAN" THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE UNIVERSE.
Only three others share this secret. Our friends: The Sorceress, Man-At-Arms, and Orko. Together we defend Castle Grey-Skull from THE EVIL FORCES OF SKELETOR!
Yup, I can still hear that rattling around in my brain verbatim.

No, he was always an adult as Prince Adam (probably late teens/early 20s but I don't know if they ever established his age). Other than a deeper tan, he doesn't physically change that much when transforming.
