You don't have to look far. I just dropped in one of the first examples that pops up on a google search for someone that was arrested for this in Canada (The examples that pop up are only the people who are found out). Canada's companies are littered with Chinese spys whose job it is to steal trade secrets. Stolen technology from the west is a big part of their rise to prominence.
It's tremendously naïve and economically dangerous to throttle or impede billions in investment in commodities that Canada has that the world needs right now and for the immediate / medium term future.

We don't qualify for the Inflation Exacerbation Funds, but I'll be doing my annual donation to NDP this week! Reminder to anyone who is able to give early that you'll get most of the money back (just not until spring 2024).
Give $200 and get back $150
Give $400 and get back $250
Give $1000 and get back $550

Not surprised actual business leaders see it as a business opportunity through foresight, while right-wing conservative nutjobs see it as an instant chance to politically grandstand. Sometimes the UCP should just STFU, go sit in a corner, and let our private sector roll their sleeves up and look at the economic forecast - since that's what they actually specialize in.

We can pick on Notley a bit here too. She is following the strategy I outlined a few pages ago to dismantle Smith's narrative, but I think she went too far too fast here. Should have kept the messaging limited to the emissions cap and not touched the job transition, let Smith continue taking a beating for it instead. This type of position provides cover for Smith's position and undermines positive news plays like that CEO story. Misplay by Notley's team here, should have waited a bit longer.

I had to laugh at that miswording of the statement. Promise to create a Filipino... is she going to be a surrogate for the two nice people standing beside her? That's a very selfless thing to do for someone else, though I feel it is somewhat outside of the scope of government.

Shouldn't they source the clay from the Philippines?
Maybe Fuzz can hook them up with a donation.

I wonder if they'll teach kids "proper" Filipino or real world Filipino. I used to work a night shift with a guy from the Philippines and he would put on a Filipino news station on the TV. I could almost follow along because nearly half the words the used were in English. I had always assumed the English I heard sprinkled in between him and his friends a type of slang, but it's the same on the state run news channel

FFS why is this such a big deal? It's free training. Big whoop. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head saying you need to complete the training and go work on a windmill.
The market will ALWAYS dictate where the labour force goes. If you're a pipeline welder working O&G at $50/hr and you have unlimited work ahead of you, what's the harm in getting free training to go weld on a windmill in the case oil drops? If it doesn't drop and windmills pay $60/hr vs O&G $50 then go work there!! Let the oil companies compete for your services. Capitalism. Enjoy it. Everyone wins.
To me this is just another liberal vanity project where they get to tell people how "green" (lol) they are while continuing to rake in cash from Alberta energy. Oil isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so if they want to sprinkle cash here to champion their "transition" go right ahead.
But yeah EHRMAGERD here comes Trudeau to steal MAH JERBS and force egress shutdowns on one of Canada's biggest industries or something like that I'M OUTRAGED! TO TWITTER I GO!!

Exactly. As I said before it's just a boring skills training program. Nothing to see here.
