In the Daily Scan, there's a bit from Boston on the asking price for DeBrusk. No joke, people are talking about Zadorov as a fit.

Has to be for a full 30 days or 10 games, since that is the minimum for LTIR. What star player will consent to sit in the press box for a whole month leading up to the playoffs?
Quote:
It doesn’t seem like the NHL polices the LTIR system that hard.

Tell that to the Flames the year Regehr was injured with 9 games to go, and they couldn't call up a replacement because he could not be put on LTIR.

Everyone knows Kucherov was ready to go before the playoffs and they didn’t have to activate him right away for example.
|
‘Everyone knows’, in this case, means ‘some reporter tweeted that Kucherov looked good skating, so a bunch of yahoos invented a conspiracy theory that he was ready to go right at that moment.’
In fact, the Lightning activated him off IR right at the end of his expected recovery time. It just happened to be after the end of the regular season.

Sounds like its Flames fan that are suggesting Zadorov be traded for Debrusk. Not Boston fans wanting Zadorov.

Brown is still the best player for the Flames #3 rw. Come on Ottawa.

Man both Toffoli and Brown would be incredibly savy additions, especially considering the chemistry Brown showed with Mangiapane at the worlds and Toffoli’s history with Sutter in LA and Monahan in junior. Really good value contracts that fit the same window as well, but we would have to get creative in the off-season for sure.
Dube + Pitlick + 3rd for Connor Brown
Valimaki + 1st + Zadorov For Toffoli + Kulak
Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Backlund - Brown
Coleman - Monahan - Toffoli
Lucic - Richardson - Lewis
Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Kulak - Gudbranson

I know Dube and Valimaki are needing some more time to develop but come on.
Also this obsession with Brown ever since the World Championships is getting ridiculous.
He is a 3rd liner. I like that he is RHed but he isn’t worth giving up on Dube for. Don’t get me wrong for the right RW I would trade him but Brown isn’t him IMO.
And Toffoli is worth Valimaki and a 1st? That’s too steep for a 2nd liner.
I do want Toffoli though, just not at that price.

I'd be willing to give up a 1st for Toffoli if the second piece is a cap muncher that makes the dollars work.
We basically need 3M going the other way. I don't know who that candidate would be.

Target Gurianov out of Dallas
Big, wheels, good shot. That’s the right player for the bottom 6.

Dallas is playing great why would they be giving up Gurianov?
I'm a big fan of his and think he will score 30 one day.

Kucherov for one? I think many players would opt to rest up for the playoffs at a chance to win a Cup, if they had a good reason to. Every year on garbage day, we hear about players playing through injuries that they could have justifiably been pulled from the line-up for. It probably won't be hard for Vegas to find high paid players that could use the rest because they are playing through pain. The caveat being that they are in the playoff picture. It makes it easier if Eichel is being activated as well as it wouldn't be a net loss in talent.

That wasn't planned. Obviously any team looking to take advantage of the LTIR will not be doing it with only 9 games left.

Agreed, Tampa and Kucherov carefully considered the timing of his surgery, the type of surgery that most players get done in the off season.

If Valimaki + 1st + a UFA contract in Zad is too much for Toffoli than colour me surprised. You have to give to get and while I do think the grass will be greener on the other side of Valimaki’s development you have to consider the window we are in now and if Valimaki can get you a piece that pushes you further ahead now the Flames would be foolish not to do it.
The last time the team pushed all in it was for Jokinen at the cost of a 1st and Lombardi and also cap flexibility so I understand that it’s a big decision that needs to be over analyzed but the Flames find themselves with a coach and a roster that is as close to being a contender as this franchise has had in quite sometime so I’d happily dangle players like Dube and Valimaki along with the 1st to bring in players that make us better now.
Connor brown right now is better than Dube and has a decent contract for the rest of this year and next, fits the contending window and had good chemistry with Mangiapane at the worlds regardless of that being overhyped. It also wouldn’t be the first time we attempted to land Brown who was reportedly part of the Kadri deal that got axed by Kadri. I agree that Dube has more growth and potential to achieve and when he was suggested for DeBrusk I didn’t agree with it but that’s because DeBrusk is a lefty and a free agent at the end of the year where as Brown has another year of control, has also scored 20+ a couple times, is only 27, is a righty… lots to like.
I just feel that Treliving has found himself in a remarkable position to go all in with this roster when many at the start of the year including myself felt that he had wasted the opportunity of ever contending with this roster. It only makes sense for him to push his chips all in at this point.

I don't think Kucherov was ready a month before. a couple weeks at most. And if they did plan the surgery with that in mind (and who knows if that's true) it's not the same situation as Eichel at all.
I suppose the timing could work out the same in which case, assuming Eichel plays well, there will be a big push to change the rule.

It wouldn't necessarily mean that Eichel would have to stay on IR the whole time. Max Pac is always playing through some kind of injury it seems.

That would be even more suspect. But they'd need more than Patches on LTIR if Eichel checks in. Smith traded as a rental at the deadline and a Patches injury would do it.
But, if they are desperate to make room at centre, I'd take Stephenson off their hands for them.

I have a weird feeling we see Smith go to Buffalo for like a 3rd once Eichel is healthy, and then Buffalo flips him at the deadline.
Almost like a "wink wink, nudge nudge" thing between Vegas and Buffalo as part of the initial trade where he was a piece they wanted to included, but needed the body at the time due to injuries.
