I think doing 1 of the 2 trades you proposed would make a huge impact for this years post season. But both is too many assets.
I also think going all in this post season you’re going to need Stone and Dube at some point. I don’t like the idea of moving either of them.

Duchene would be an amazing pickup and I'd give up a lot to get him. I would include janko in a deal for him if need be. Depth down the middle is important and having Monahan, Duchene, Backlund and Ryan would be very impressive.

But I do not believe he ever requested a trade.
But on that topic, we had Vernon and Housley twice too. I don't know if Housley requested a trade, but I seem to recall he was disgruntled the first time he was on the Flames. Engelland was also with the Flames organization twice, but he never saw NHL action the first time. Wideman came to the Flames on a tryout when he was starting his career, but was signed away in camp by the Blues before re-signing years later as a free agent.

I would not want Hamilton on the Oilers. I like the fact that their defence can't make a first pass tape to tape.

That’s best case scenario for the Flames if they sold the farm. His compete would fit right in.

Any insight on why Vegas sends Brandon Pirri back to the AHL after putting up 9 points in 7 games, and the team winning 5 of 7 with him in the lineup?

Powerplay Quarterback

Can’t believe I’ll suggest this, but would anyone consider signing Bieska for remainder of the season to be 6/7D?
Before I get jumped all over, coming off a somewhat strong performance at the Spengler Cup, he can still play. He would add an element of toughness to a team that lacks it. Great in the dressing room and is a free asset.
I could see other destinations being more attractive to him (Leafs, Penguins, Vegas) but I wouldn’t be upset if he ended up wearing Red.

Bieksa is a good character guy, but there's no room for him on the Flames. Stone and Prout are both right-shot depth guys with grit and veteran experience.

Didn’t Bieksa say he would only play in California?

I think we end up with either Maroon or Simmonds as a rental.

No thank you. Bieksa is washed up. Finished. His NHL abilities expired 2 years ago.

From the toughness and dickishness that he brings, I wouldn’t be 100% against it, but, doesnt sound from the interview like he’d be willing to play with the same frequency as Dalton Prout, so for that reason he’d be out. Said that he’d be making a decision in the next few days.

Yuck, I wouldn't want either of those guys anywhere near the Flames. This team needs somebody fast who can really shoot the puck. If Vegas has no room for him, I'd love to see Brandon Pirri brought in. If not, guys like Jordan Eberle or Gustav Nyquist would make sense. And if the Flames are gonna bring in someone huge, I'd prefer they go with a defensively-responsible guy like Brian Boyle.
