This is interesting!

I have no opinion one way or another. I took the Aimpoint clinic a couple of years ago and have had a couple of swing lessons over the years. Found all the instruction to be good, albeit a little pricey for sure.

Surprised to hear that not everything is peaches and rainbows, but I suppose thats the way these things go - different strokes for different folks after all. Given the recent increase in rates, he's become too expensive for my game anyway!

We were at a jr event this weekend where all the high school aged players were playing off of 6900 yard tees. The crazy thing is the course held a pga tour event up until 2002, and it was playing under 6600 then. It really does put into perspective (to me anyway) why they are looking at rolling the ball back. If high school freshman can get around a course 300 yards longer than tour pros played only 20 years ago, I think they let it get out of control. It's too bad they didn't reign it in 20 years ago though, instead of having to roll it back.

Played worst round of the year today. Very frustrating. Driver was OK for the most part, 3 hybrid was good, everything else bad to utterly atrocious. Just discouraging playing like that, makes you want to just take a break.

No, you just need a new driver, probably new irons and a Scotty.

They did on the driver faces. They just didn't foresee what happened with balls, HD cameras/trackman, golf specific fitness, strokes gained analysis, force plate work and the subsequent changes to the swing / strategy.

Even with a rollback people will find a way to get better.

My question is, why change the courses? Just let the pros shoot 30 under on the same course I play.

Driver was fine, putter was... well, not great but not really much worse than normal. The reality is I'm playing with my spare set that I keep out in BC so what I really "need" is my normal sand wedge, not just for bunkers but for shots within 60 yards where the ball needs to get up in the air. That was about 10 strokes worth of thins and fats.

That and I was borrowing 8/9/P from my dad because I dont have those clubs here, and I guess his lofts are stronger because on at least 3 occasions I absolutely struck my shot pure only to have it fly over the back of the green. You'd think I'd learn.

If you are keeping a set there, go get shafts that match your driver and fairways. Then you just need to bring the heads in your luggage. Saves having to buy a complete extra set. I keep a set in Phoenix and bring my heads with me. Saved me a fortune.

Definitely need a wedge you are comfortable with.

I think we're all legally obligated to state our scores when we announce good and bad games!

Been getting out once a week - went 109, 95, 84. We'll see if I can get into the 70's today.

That's quite the trend in the right direction!!

I had a crap year last year. My last two rounds have been 70 and 73. I know it's not sustainable but it is nice to see some good scores again finally.

Been a pretty good year so far. Lessons really paid off. Have shot 92, 91, 86, 84x3, and 81.

Hoping to break 80 for the first time in my life.

Playing Mt. Kidd Thursday. Anyone been out to kananaskis yet this year? Finally allowing carts on fairways?

Hello CP!

I am once again undertaking the 24 hours of golf challenge in support of the Vulcan County Health and Wellness Foundation. Last year, I stopped counting at 100 holes played! It was a wild ride and Im excited to be part of the team tackling it again.

If you would like to contribute to our campaign it would be much appreciated. Think of this as a small towns version of the Calgary Health Trust!

I did not get into the 70's. But I had 47 putts, so I think that's a new record...

After not touching a club in about 9-10 months, hole in one on #7 Wintergreen yesterday! Still a little stunned it happened. Got a cool commemorative flag and everything. Was an amazing day as well with essentially no smoke at all. Mixed bag on the rest of the round with perhaps a half dozen pars, but also some fairly nasty holes.

Golf has mostly been on hold for me over the last 5 years (thanks kids), other than playing a handful of rounds here and there on golf trips. Anyway, looks like prices have gone up in my absence and Wintergreen and Redwood Meadows are suddenly great value courses. I don’t think Redwood has ever gone up in price? Werent they $99 like 20 years ago?

Any other tips on who is under 100 these days?

Prices are ludicrous. Canal at Delacour is the best value I've found - $70 or so walking during the week.

Congratulations on the Hole in One! Amazing.

Played my first round of the year on Wednesday and shot a 90. Pretty decent for not swinging a club since last October.

Played again yesterday and it was so bad I stopped keeping score.

It’s days like yesterday I question why I even bother.

Honestly for sheer value, the city courses are the only thing reasonable unless you’re willing to drive. I just can’t believe the costs for courses like Blue Devil in particular. You can play for less at Inglewood or Scirocco and those are nicer courses. Golf is just expensive.
