Meh, no real rant.
They shouldnt be in this hole in the first place, that is well documented.
Much of the uptik this year is thanks to an extra couple Copa America games that wasn't in the budget, and that's on the team performance. Also, a competent guy in Blue coming along to steer things back on track as much as he can, properly, and a dynamic motivated coach (not paid by the CSA - savings there too) who has been fundraising, help in keeping things on track with funds not magically disappearing as they likely have in the past.
And, with many corporations wanting to be associated with the WC as it creeps to a year away, CSA will get more "philanthropy" directly to fund things, while the CSB gets the lions share of new revenue and pays the allowance to the CSA.My guess is that allowance increased a bit in a very public gesture by the CSB, for a year or so.
So 2025 and 2026 financial numbers should be better as the corporate bandwagon fills up in this country, and whatever Fifa bonus money they get for performancenin 2026 WC and anything else associated with hosting that hasn't been paid.
But, they still didnt have money for a proper training camp this winter and the coach still fundraising for basic necessities is a bad look.
The real question will be what happens in the WC hangover. Sponsors take a break for a couple years. Marsch gone, Blue probably gone and the CSA may be left to their own failing devices to handle things, including funds. Again.
Ali Ahmed has interest from Serie A, the Bundesliga and the Championship.
Promise David (23 year old forward with 7 goals in the Belgian top flight) has apparently chosen Canada over Nigeria, which he has played for at the U-23 level. He and Dieu-Merci Michel are on good form and could replace players like Oluwaseyi and Bair who have cooled off with their clubs since the Summer.

The latest rumour around Ismael Kone is a loan to Rennes. According to TSN he turned down a loan to Southampton and has interest from Fiorentina and Valencia. France's transfer window closes tomorrow at 3 pm.
Kone's loan to Rennes was made official yesterday.
Davies has signed an extension with Bayern until 2030. Definitely surprising given the hostile nature of the contract negotiations early in the season and all the Real Madrid talk but if he's happy and continuing to get lots of minutes at a big club that's good enough for me.
Canada will play a pair of friendlies in September against Romania and Wales. They will play Romania September 5 in Bucharest and Wales September 9 in Swansea.
Both are good quality European opponents in my opinion.

I watched the Bayern-Celtic game yesterday and Alistair Johnston was outstanding. He shut Serge Gnabry down and when Kingsley Coman replaced him, he had no better luck against Johnston. He was a fortress back there and also used the ball really well. I can't see him staying at Celtic for much longer, he's definitely ripe for a better league. Celtic is a big club and they performed well in the this season's Champions League, particularly in this tie against Bayern, but smashing everyone in Scotland almost every weekend isn't the best recipe for Johnston's development, IMHO.
Bayern were poor yesterday but Davies made his return from injury midway through the second half and scored the tying goal in the last seconds of injury time to put Bayern through. Despite the understandable allure of playing for a club like Real Madrid or moving to the Premier League, I think him staying at Bayern is a good thing for Canada as we head into the World Cup. He's comfortable there, popular and valued by the manager and his teammates and it ensures he'll be playing regularly leading into the World Cup.

Good to have decent opponents in Europe for a window. I assume there is only one window after, a spring window a month or so before the WC, it really is getting close.
And yes, good for Davies for staying with a club who will take care of him. David as well for now. As mentioned earlier, the other guys probably should have as well to play and gain confidence, not chasing a club who collects players and immediately sits them on the bench.
Players perform well on the stage that is the WC, they'll get more than enough interest from bigger clubs in the immediate aftermath.
I never thought Jebbison would commit, amazing! Thought he would always hold out for his 1 or 2 England caps during a nations league window and that would be it
Promise David looks... promising. He's tearing it up this year in Belgium. He's a big boy!
Jayden Nelson went off for the Whitecaps last night in his debut. If he has a strong season he could probably find himself back in contention for a depth spot on the team

He said all those things with conviction too. It was beautiful and I didn't even need any extra motivation to win this, but holy hell am I ever amped up for this now.
Give Greztky's OC to Marsch.

Nations League roster is out. Promise David and Daniel Jebbison are in the squad. The big omission for me is Jacen Russell-Rowe, he's in great form this year and Oluwaseyi is Tosaint Ricketts 2.0.
I think JRR got bumped down the order with Jebbison and David coming into the fold
I'm a little surprised Shaffelburg and Laryea are included, they must be nearly healthy
Time to win a trophy
I get why David and Jebbison were called over him, but Oluwaseyi hasn't scored since July and somehow gets called every camp. Marsch must just love his pace I guess.

I've always thought Oluwaseyi is the Larin replacement and Russell Rowe is the David replacement. Might be overly simplistic on my part, but when you're expecting David to play 180 minutes in these two games the other options may appeal more.
But I don't disagree with you, Russel Rowe has had a very good start to the year trying to pick up the pieces of that depleted Columbus attack. I also think Bair could have realistically been called in again here.
Can any of these guys play on the wing? The roster seems light on healthy/in form wingers
Canada will be hosting a new tournament in June in Toronto called the Canadian Shield. This year's tournament includes Canada, New Zealand, Ukraine and Cote D'Ivoire.
Canada will play Ukraine on June 7. Will be good prep for Gold Cup and its never a bad thing to get more games on Canadian soil.
