It was very meh. I didn’t dislike it as much as some did, or will. It was fine. Not awful. But had a lot of problems, a lot of holes, a lot of callbacks I didn’t expect. It certainly wasn’t as stupid as something like Ant-man 3 or umm what else was awful from marvel recently? So many forgettable movies I can’t even remember them.

It needed better writing. It desperately needed a stronger supporting cast, in terms of both actors and the characters they were playing. It needed someone better as Thunderbolt Ross. Really missing William hurt.Ford wasn’t terrible but he was phoning it in. Thankfully he’s a good enough actor that even when he’s phoning it in he’s pretty good.

It’s a forgettable entry in the MCU. A common theme these days unfortunately. It’s too bad too because the spy thriller angle that winter soldier successful with and they tried to continue with here at least give gives the movie something a little bit unique. It’s just that they fumbled everything around the conspiracy thriller so badly.

Ultimately the movie felt underbaked. It’s half of a good idea with a bunch of crappy filler.

Ford was fine I thought, I’d single him out as a positive. Otherwise this wasn’t good at all. Totally ruined by the trailers too.

Pretty sure Marvel knew they had a clunker and realized they needed to give away the farm to get much of an opening.

It's not that was bad. It just played closer an extended streaming episode than an experience made for the big screen.

Ford played his role well. There just wasn't a lot to chew on with this entry.

Pretty much an appetizer for the next two marvel releases.

Is this based off the guy from Troy's Hulk or Edward Nortons Hulk movie?

The latter. Ed Norton’s Hulk is MCU Hulk.

I liked Brave New World more than I thought I would. They shouldn't have spoiled Red Hulk but what can ya do?

Went this weekend, MCU is still scheduled viewing for me, although maybe with less urgency than 5 years ago.

I think the story was fairly good, the way the handled Ross' change was better than I expected.

My big gripe is there is no character growth for Sam. They should have had him refusing Tores' help on the first mission because he is worried about anyone getting hurt, and losing that package. Then getting his help to get it back. Then the injury at the end, then a nice conversation with Tores at the end about how sometimes people get hurt, but to be a captain and lead you need to have a team. Instead all of that stuff happened but it was resolved too easily, it just wasn't explicit enough in the plot to show us this movie needed to exist in order for Sam to grow into leading a team for Doomsday.

Yeah, I had extremely low expectations for the leadup to Ross' transformation as well, so it managed to clear that bar. This felt like a bit back to basics for MCU, which I'm fine with. Still lots of seeds planted for the future, but it just largely stuck to its own story. And the callback to the first MCU Hulk movie were all right. I was surprised how well Leader worked after all this time on the shelf.

Regarding your comments about the leadership -- I dunno, maybe the movie will serve as foundation for Sam *not* leading the next group. And the overall leadership when everything converges coming from someone outside the Avengers. I guess we'll see.

Saw Brave New World last night. I liked it, it's not among the best MCU movies but certainly not amongst the worst either. It had all the required elements: decent story, good action, and nice tie in to the greater MCU.

Daredevil Born Again episode 1 was interesting. When Trump can be President, why can’t Wilson Fisk become Mayor?

I used to think comic books that had supervillains running for office to be ridiculous. Lex Luthor as president? Gtfo. Now it seems eerily prescient.

Does anyone else find the cinematography to be really bad in the new Daredevil? The scene where Matt waits outside for Fisk to ask him to coffee (Not a spoiler, it's in the trailer), and the camera is across the street and they are trying to build this intense moment but there's cars driving by which completely takes the focus off the scene.

Also some weird pans and close-ups that just make things feel off. Could be because I just watched the Netflix Daredevil and it's different, but it's throwing me off.

It's definitely got a different feel because of the cinematic choices than the Netflix show. More CGI at the start of the first episode. Seems they're ramping up his agility powers to align more with the comics and make him look like less of a chump when he makes his way into the proper MCU.

I'm enjoying though.

I specifically chose not to rewatch the netflix show so it's wasn't as jarring to me as I suspect it would be.

I've only seen episode one but excited for more.

They made the right choice with a 2 episode launch. It was full setup for the season and the second episode ending was awesome.

I watched Venom 3 tonight. Oh boy.

Overly complicated and unnecessarily messy. They tried to cram in too much, with multiverse nonsense, new villains, and deep symbiote lore that didn't feel engaging. The codex and golden portals felt like forced complexity when a Venom movie should just be about Eddie and Venom causing chaos together. Instead of keeping things fun and simple, they made it confusing and unsatisfying

And what was the deal Juno Temple's character's brother? Was he The Witcher look-alike villain? A dropped plot point? They circled back that a few times, but there were no answers. Did I miss something?

I'm actually pretty forgiving when it comes to popcorn movies, but this was bad.

Venom is one of my favourite comic book characters but he's never given real justice on the big screen.

I watched that one, but I 'watched' it...as in, it was being played but my eyes and mind kind of glazed over.

That one was a swing and a miss.
