I definitely don't buy it either. If you heard Nick Foligno's post game interview yesterday when asked about it, he said emphatically the Vegas flu notion is quote "a load of bull****" thrown out by the media to explain their teams getting crushed or downplay what the Knights are accomplishing. He said the Jackets were absolutely ready to play against the Knights and the Knights are just a good hard working team who basically wanted it more.

I would almost argue Vegas is easier on visiting teams - instead of being out until 2am chasing skirts, you can order a legal hooker straight to your room and be asleep by 10.

In fact, and I have no way of proving this, I would almost say that gives Vegas a different kind of home ice advantage. Imagine if instead of dealing with relationship issues, you have Knights who engage in transactional arrangements with prostitutes and spend the rest of their time focused on being hockey players.

There's a certain elegance to that.

Prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas.

yeah, maybe they shouldn't. This team can't score again. Especially if the top line isn't having a game.

Third line has gone completely dry and not enough offense from the second line.

I don’t understand why our blueline is struggling to score this year?

They need a winger for the Backlind Tkachuk line and slide Frolik down to help out Bennett and Jankowski

With Chicago being done now pretty much. I wonder if you could pluck and Anisimov or Jurco from them.

Brad will be calling in the offseason for sure but a trade is fantasy as the Flames don't have the assets to make it work for the Sabres. I have a bad feeling that Patrick Maroon will be plan B in free agency.

If the Rangers keep falling I wouldn't mind giving Grabner a try.

Hoffman should be the Flames target and I’m surpirsed if he’s not. Doubt they would be willing to pay the price for him though. Brodie shouldn’t be seen touchable by the Flames anymore, 2 straight years of being awful in his own end should make him expendable when this team needs more offense. They aren’t contending with this current crop of forwards unfourtunatley, just not enough consistent firepower in lines 2-4.

If the 2019 1st is in play (and who knows, maybe it is) then they best go for someone young who has term. Is Hoffman worth that 1st? I don't know, but it must be tempting.

1OA?

That means 1st Over All.

No he's not likely worth the 1st Over All, but he is worth a 1st round pick plus.

Sorry, still waking up. I'll fix that.

But to my point, is he worth a 1st next year, putting the Flames without a 1st (barring a trade) 2 drafts in a row?

It's risky, but I would probably pull the trigger.

The main pieces of the forward core are young, and the D is locked in for 2.5 more seasons with a healthy stable of D prospects to rebuild with after that.

If management is serious about going for it with this D group then Hoffman is going to help a lot more over the next 2.5 seasons than our 2019 1st round pick will.

I wonder what Brodie's value is to NHL GM's. He's not a big name guy but he's a good skater and has averaged about 35 points a season over the past five years which is solid. He's been a train wreck at times over the past few seasons but putting him back on the right side may be a cure for some of that. I don't think Marner is too far off what he could fetch with two years left on a manageable contract. I would like to see the team shop him because I feel things aren't working out for him under this current coaching staff and it's not likely to improve.

I wouldn’t trade the 2019 1st for Hoffman and think that is narrowing the window substantially. Flames simply can’t go 2 straight drafts without a 1st or 2nd.

It gives them even less trade chips over the next year and a half. What if this coming draft some unsuspecting player becomes available the Flames will be stuck without 2 first rounders because they traded them for a second line winger and second pairing Dman
