Saw that the courts in Pennsylvania ruled against Trump's efforts to deem ballot drop boxes as unconstitutional. The federal judge who gave the ruling was appointed by Trump.

I don't think it would be all that hilarious because inevitably when these idiots are in panic mode and are flailing their guns around innocent bystanders may get killed. I lived in the US for 10 years but I need to say I am sure glad I got out of that country.

Is there such a thing as womansplaining now?
I was watching Ronna McDaniel (GOP chairwoman) on Face the Nation this morning. Legitimate questions were being asked by the female host Margaret Brennan. These questions were simply about, debate format being virtual, Trump's plan to have in person fundraisers and to discuss the legal cases surrounding potential voter suppression (removing ballot drop boxes, etc.).
McDaniel literally started saying "who cares about your questions, I want to talk about how Biden is trying to steal this election by manipulating the election councils (bipartisan group BTW) to keep Trump from speaking to the people, vote harvesting and elimination of signature requirements, and general corruption with Biden having ties to Washington deep state officials."
She literally kept yelling over Margaret the entire time, and each time she would patiently ask the question again and state that she isn't addressing her question. McDaniel talked over her non-stop in the rudest exchange I've ever seen from an official representative of a party, while spouting conspiracy theories and avoiding direct and simple questions.
It was tough to watch and you could see Brennan getting upset but keeping her composure. "I wanted to talk about these issues and you chose not to, and that's unfortunate. But thank you for your time."
The GOP has fallen a long, long way if that is their chairperson. Just disgusting.

The fact we are three weeks out and Texas seems to be somewhat competitive is astounding. I don’t think Biden wins the state in the end but that is something no one saw coming this soon. Dems had eyes on turning it purple moving forward but I don’t think they figured 2020 as a possibility. Clinton lost Texas by 9 points. Beiderbecke could close it to under 2.

I received my mail-in ballot yesterday and had it filled out in 20 minutes. 20 minutes later it had been dropped off in the early voting box at the local Registrar's office. Felt good.

Well then you (and we) will have to live with the consequences of your actions. You will have been complicit in the complete dissolution of the American republic with another 4-year term of republicans packing the courts with the enemies of the Voting Rights Act, and long-held hard-won civil liberties. Another 4-year term of a populist who provides morale support to authoritarians, brutal dictators, and strong-men across the planet who reject democracy and any humanist attempt to protect the planet from our over-consumption and excessive GHG emissions.

Reminder that Ronna literally changed her last name to placate Trump. She's as pathetic as they come.

Brothers and sisters I have none. I didn't vote for Biden or for this man's son. I don't even know who I voted for now.

When this sort of thing happens (and it happens a lot, although not with such a highly placed person) I wish that the reporter/anchor would end the interview by explaining to the audience exactly who that elected official was, what her responsibilities are, which district she represents and her position on some recent pertinent votes. (or even just her vote on the last three issues, regardless of the issue).

Of course the Trump campaign is planning to appeal the ruling, but you have ot think they're quickly running out of time. By the time this makes it through the appeal process, election day will have come and gone.

A federal judge in Pennsylvania has thrown out a lawsuit by the Trump campaign that tried to limit the battleground state's use of drop boxes in the current presidential election.
The lawsuit also challenged the Pennsylvania secretary of state's guidance that mail-in ballots shouldn't be rejected if the voter's signature doesn't match the one on file, and a state restriction that poll watchers be residents of the county where they are assigned.
All of these claims turned on a common theme: the idea that without sufficient security measures, people might commit voter fraud. The campaign argued that that fraud would then "dilute" lawfully cast votes, in violation of the state and U.S. constitutions.
In reality, voter fraud is extremely rare, though Trump has repeated baseless claims about it being widespread.
|
Quote:
Ultimately the court found that the election regulations furthered important state interests without significantly burdening any right to vote, and were therefore constitutional.
In his 138-page ruling, the judge — a Trump appointee — also noted that the Trump campaign had offered no hard evidence that voter fraud would actually occur. Instead, Ranjan wrote, the campaign had simply provided a series of "speculative" assumptions: They assume that "potential fraudsters" might try to fill drop boxes with forged ballots, and that the election security measures in place won't work to prevent that fraud.
"All of these assumptions could end up being true and these events could theoretically happen," Ranjan wrote. "But so could many things." Speculation, Ranjan concluded, isn't enough to let the plaintiffs bring their case.
"Today is another loss for Republicans' effort to make voting more difficult and a victory for democracy and the millions of Pennsylvania voters who will vote by mail," Marc Elias, a Democratic election lawyer, told The New York Times. "This court joins a chorus of other courts in rejecting the false claims of fraud Trump and the Republicans continue to advance for cynical political reasons."
|
Quote:
Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, called Saturday's ruling "a win for voters and our democracy."
The Trump campaign plans to appeal the decision.

She also asserted that 82% of Americans make over $400,000 a year and therefore, Biden is going to raise taxes on 82% of Americans.

Yeah, that was truly bonkers. There's no way that anyone hearing that could agree on that "fact", even if they are in the Trump cult.

I think it’s like 1% of Americans make over $400,000. Maybe she’s confusing it with CP members.
