It's funnier if you read it in Rodney Dangerfield's voice.

Even with excessive tipping these days, remember that the tip - at any decently-run restaurant - will also go to the chefs and the cleaning staff in the back.
If you order take-out and get it yourself, I'd still encourage you to tip even just a little bit - usually the only one who didn't earn it is the server who doesn't have to serve or wait on you.
I definitely don't tip as much for take-out as a sit-down experience, but even a little is a sign of good faith.
There's a great episode about it that I found interesting on The Big Story podcast, and how it may not be so easy to just 'turn off' in Canada.

I usually tip a buck when I do pick up if there is a bunch of cutlery and napkins and stuff.
But sometimes, I find people get too wrapped up around the percentage of tip vs the real amount.
"OMG DoubleF, why did you tip 18%? You should have just tipped 15%!"
"The server was nice. That bill was like $25. It's a difference of less than a dollar..."
Even for a $200 meal, 3% more is a difference of $6. That's not much at all.

Was golfing yesterday and the tip feature when buying drinks at the halfway house or clubhouse made me think of this thread. The extent of the "service" is to turn around and grab a beer car out of a freezer... not sure how that could possibly exceed expectations.

So many local establishments have trouble finding and keeping staff these days.
If it's a place I like in my neighborhood and staff are nice, I am happy to give a few bucks even if I'm taking beer out of the fridge myself at my local brewery. If it helps them keep staff, keep open, and running properly, then I'm fine with it.

Hey I think getting an entire car out of a freezer can take a little bit of effort and expertise. Perhaps a tip is in order.

Most golfers do anyway. It’s $4.50, here’s 5, keep it.

The vast majority of golfers use their credit or debit cards. In fact the beverage cart on my course does not accept cash. Portable debit/credit card machines are used.

I'll take that...the local Water-Fowl might not be so keen...

One time around 1990 I was at The Cecil Hotel bar with troutman and it was Jug Night. All jugs of beer were $4.50 all night. We were sitting at our terry cloth covered table waiting for our server to notice us but it was so busy it was taking forever. So I wandered over to the beer taps and asked the one armed bartender (not even kidding) for a jug of beer. He poured it skillfully (remember he only had one arm) and I gave him a fiver. As he’s rummaging around in the coin tray I say to him “Keep the change”. The look on his face told me very few patrons ever said that to him.
This might have been the same night troutman got asked to dance by a large Native man, or it could have been the night a woman who spat cheezies onto his shirt followed him into the bathroom. My memory of nights at the Cecil has never been very good.

Trout man has some baiting techniques is what I’m gathering here.
