The easiest way is to cast it. When you load up and start the video on Much on your laptop (I use Google Chrome as a browser), there should be a cast icon. If you're unsure it looks like this, or some variation of it:
Once you click it should bring up a list of castable devices. It will only cast to devices on the same network. In other words make sure your Firestick or Smart TV is connected to the same network as your laptop. Hopefully one or both of them are listed when you click the button. Just select which device you want to cast to and it should pop up on your TV (just make sure you have the right input selected, though it should pop up automatically if it's your Smart TV). To stop casting click the cast icon again and select disconnect or stop, or whatever similar option.
I'm not sure if that's basic enough, but I hope it helps.
And FYI, Chromecast is similar to a Firestick. It's a device you can attach to your TV to play content.
