I don't think Canada will beat Russia, but I am eagerly awaiting the game. I hope they can pull it out, but I don't think they have the defense or coaching to make it happen... Luongo will need to have the game of his life.

Is Babcock going to put in Brodeur against Russia? Serious question, I don't trust our coach one bit.

Yea, Giving up a 2 on 0 in the final few minutes was pretty scary. That being said, I don't think it happens if one of the Canadians stick's doesn't shatter.

I'm REALLY excited for tomorrows game. Should be a real beauty.

Probably saying "what, you can't stop a 2 on 0?".

Glad Marty isn't going to be sulking now that he's not playing.

Agreed, clearly the team is not where they need to be when Bergeron's stick explodes and creates a turnover. No convincing team would ever have a stick break!

Yea. I was questioning having Brodeur on the bench instead of Fleury after that US game. After seeing how he interacted and supported the team throughout the game and then that post game interaction... I get it.

This game makes me feel much better about facing Russia. The Russians didn't look all that great in their games either and their D can't handle our size up front.

Well, Iggy was the most dangerous player on the ice so pretty sure Babcock will demote him to the fourth line and give him 3 minutes of icetime total tomorrow.

Didn't see much from Luongo to lead me to believe he can hold off the Russians. He made the easy saves on wrist shots from the blue line, but this wasn't exactly a high quality opponent. Lots of fat rebounds given out, and his play behind the net is sad at best.

Nice of the extremely intelligent Nuck fans to "louuuuu" on dump ins from center ice, and on shots that completely miss the net. Sigh.

I really don't think Russia has played that great yet, but thats the scary part is that they could next game. However if Canada plays its best game and Russia plays its best game, Canada will win.

Looking foward to/fearing tommorow. I honestly wanted this to be the Finals matchup.

Great game. Passing of the torch to Luongo for sure. We'll win and die by him now. I'm confident.

Otherwise, clearly Rick Nash was the problem on the first line. Overrated player.

Neither of those two should be on the team though.
I know and that's what I'm scratching my head about. I know why Bergeron is on the team and that's to kill penalties and win key defensive zone faceoffs but why is Seabrook here? If he isn't capable of playing with Keith and instead is just going to ride the bench, why is he even on the team? I just think there's 2 defenceman sitting at home right now who can bring a lot more to the table than him (Green/Jbo).

I think the key to the game is clearing away rebounds. Luongo is very good positionally, but can get beat on rebounds more than I would like. If that happens, I think we will win.

From what I've watched of Russia, it's not like they are setting the world on fire either. They have the firepower but I question their back end and overall team defense. If Canada can find a way to slow down their big guns we will be fine. They'd better get up for this game.

Well at least he made those easy saves. Not much else he can do if they aren't going to be more quality scoring chances. Really didn't have a chance on either goal against. I thought his rebound control was fine this game. Don't worry guys, Luongo will be fine.

He wasn't tested much. I can only think of one stoppable great chance the germans had - the first shot on the final 2 on 0.
I can't fault him one bit on either of the goals that got by him. For better or for worse, he's the man from here on out.

Oh, I agree 100%. Seabrook should not be there. If they wanted a guy who would only play 5 on 5 when the game was well in hand, why not bring Green. At least he can contribute to the powerplay.

I doubt he gives up a 2 on 0 in the last minute of a game as well.

Good effort tonight against Germany.

Really looking forward for tomorrow's game. That game should be a 1 goal contest (2 at the most). I don't see one team beating the other by 3+. Russia has quite the offense so we need to stay back. We haven't faced an offense explosive as the Russians to this point. Good thing is that their defense isn't great. It's the weakpoint of their team. Luongo will have to be solid but guys like Pronger, Niedermayer and Boyle will have to be as well. Not worried about Shea Weber one bit. That guy is an absolute stud.

PS..........congrats to you CP'ers and Iginla on his 2 goals. I never understood why he was took of Crosby's line in the first place. I still think Heatley should be the LW on that line but no point in changing them again.

GO CANADA GO!!!!!!
