Well at least it might return to a Thursday timeslot which would be awesome. NBC is a mess, which is so unfortunate because in my opinion, they've produced the best TV of any of the major networks. 30 rock, Chuck, The Office, Parks and Rec, Community all make up my favorite shows of the last 5 years. Sadly outside of the Office, for some reason each show gets killed in the ratings every week. The Nielsen ratings are such a joke thay networks still view them as a viable way to measure a shows success, and Americans have truly awful taste. Fox doesn't have a funny show on tv. ABC has Modern family and that's it. CBS might be the worst, as each one of their comedies is studio audience, broad, and the most formula driven sitcom crap.
which plays well with the older, non-tech influenced generations, who unsurprisingly make up the bulk of the Neilsen ratings group
Community doesn't seem like it would be all that expensive to make. Maybe a cable network will pick it up? Or maybe even Netflix? That would be a shrewed move for them.
Good news: It won't be airing in the death slot of Fridays this fall.
Bad news: It won't be returning next week.
NBC has pulled Community and Whitney from their lineup for the immediate future.
Speculation is that unless their rating change significantly in the next couple of weeks, Animal Practice and Guys with Kids will get pulled from the schedule and Whitney and Community will either replace them directly, or they'll return to a re-jiggered schedule for November sweeps.
.
I think its pretty safe to say Animal Practice and Guys with Kids are unlikey to survive. Not very good shows.
Ergo Community and Whitney will be back.

Michael: So, what's going on with the fundraiser? George Sr.: Well, I don't think the Home Builders Organization is gonna be supporting us. Michael: Yeah, the HBO's not gonna want us. What do we do now? George Sr.: Well, I think it's "Show Time." I think we have to have a show during dinner.

Chevy is back at it again, although this time it seems he was mad that Pierce was getting too racist. Legit concern but not the best way to address it...
For comparisons sake, according to Wiki, Community averages around 4-5 million viewers an episode but scores pretty well in the most coveted demo's and went against American Idol and Big Bang Theory as well last season which are two of the highest rated shows on tv.
I have to say I can't believe I waited so long to watch this show, just started it on Netflix on Saturday and am half way through season 1 already. I have never watched a show that made me actually, consistently, laugh out loud every episode. I can't get enough.

I love Community, it is such a well written show. None of the guys are relatable (although Jeff is cool like i used to be before getting married, having kids and growing up....ah, the good old days) or cliched (ok fine, Pierce is a little like my grampa too) since all the characters are very original and funny.......plus Britta and Annie are so smoking hot! Last seasons "Digital Estate Planning" episode was hilarious and pretty innovative to see on a "half-hour sitcom"
Community is funny in the way that the Simpsons used to be in the 90's

so this clip has the 2nd most views of any video on NBC's Youtube page, yet is only 4 days old. the neilsen ratings crap has got to go, because that is such a terrible way of determining how popular a show like Community is

Such absolute crap. And as I understand it, the Neilsen boxes are in the most "American" of American households. The families of 4 and perfect little Caucasian household. I thought the best fan campaign yet to save a show was Chuck. They identified a sponsor on the show "Subway" and started buying footlongs every Thursday when the show aired. Fans need to keep getting more creative and harp on these networks.
It's complete bull@*it that NBC can put up a video like that and watch people view it like crazy, and keep jerking poor Community around. Frakkers of the highest calibre. Go die in a fire NBC.

I think they understand all of our points. They know that Community is a hit and that quality wise, it's one of the best comedies they've had. The problem is that advertisers are still using traditional, out dated ratings systems to determine the value of an ad spot so in turn, NBC's bottomline is hurting.
I think they're trying to stick with it. Hopefully they can hold out a little longer.
