Paid $300 for a set of 1 year old 4 winter tires on steel rims for my subaru.

Kijiji is your friend.

I agree just picked up my rav tires for 250 for 4 with 1 season on them. Its surprising how many people sell their cars but don't include the winters

When I bought my new vehicle last fall, the fact that it came with winter tires on rims was a selling point, for sure. Even if the tires are halfway through their life, you're still getting the rims.

For my other vehicle, I bought some tires on alloys a few years back on Kijiji. Well worth it. I'm actually looking forward to replacing those tires as this will be their last winter, but they've done me well for 2-3 winters now.

I am guessing that buying winter tires in the spring or summer might get me some deals on leftover winter stock, but I'm not sure if the tire market works that way. They might just warehouse them for next year.

Good question. You don't really hear about winter tire blow outs other then canadian tire specials. I would guess they just warehouse them since they know someone will buy them next year regardless come first snow fall

Yeah - that's what I'm thinking. The convenience of just taking the wheels in (instead of leaving the whole car) still makes an "off season" purchase handy, but I'd be surprised if the price would be substantially lower, if at all.

Cheapest in town, but a bit more hassle it seems

Does anyone know what size of lugnut I would need to buy to fix this

Thanks
Did you just say your nuts are too small?

The girth of my nuts is just fine it is the length that is the problem. I can't get my nuts deep enough to finish the job

No, too short. Nuts can be short. Penises can be long.

I was checking online around August/September, and they didn't really have any specials. I wanted to beat the rush, so I took my old winter tires in to get them replaced when it was still +25 outside. I went on a Saturday afternoon to Costco, and was able to get it done within the hour. It's definitely a lot less stress than getting it right when snowfall hits.

New Yokohamas, rims, sensors, the whole nine yards went on today. There _is_ a difference. Even just changing lanes going over the snow piles the car feels like it tracks smooth. Less slipping than the all seasons for sure.

Just had my Himalayas put on. I definitely can see myself getting too overconfident driving this way....the difference is substantial.

Had my Himalayas put on my CR-V today. Driving to the tire shop was sketchy in my all seasons that have little tread left. Once the winters were on it felt like I was driving on pavement. Love winter tires with all wheel drive

Well I'm driving with possibly the worst tires ever manufactured (all-seasons).

Let's do this.

Bumping this up. It's time to start thinking of getting some winters. Beat the rush and panic that always happens after the first snow fall.
