I've taken a bit of a break from working out, not necessarily intentionally, I've just sort of not felt like working out. So since today is a rest day on crossfit.com, I just picked my favorite crossfit workout, and went to it. Cindy.
As many rounds in 20 minutes of: 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 squats. This is easily my favorite crossfit workout. I just love it. I stopped counting how many rounds I did...maybe 13 or 14, but what a workout it is.

Hmmmm... that sounds cool. Do you do a warmup before? Or anything else?

I didn't today. Usually my crossfit warmup is 3 sets of 10 pullups, 10 dips, 15 squats, and 20 situps, or something to that effect. I am probably not doing a proper warmup, but it works for me.
If you have any interest in crossfit puxlut (it's weird typing that username out), you should just go and immerse yourself in their website. It's amazing.

Had an idea!

To bump this old thread, I've always had problems with my blood pressure. I suppose after years of being overweight and not ever getting enough exercise it takes more than a year of eating right to get it back to where it should be.
Well, I was able to get my diastolic pressure down to below 75 a while back, but always had a problem with my systolic pressure. It was always over 140, usually between 140 and 150. At age 21, that is something to be concerned about.
So, I decided to try something completely stupid and completely against doctor wishes. I began taking up to 20 capsules of Omega3s everyday. Had some initial problems with going to the washroom, but I just tested myself this morning, and my blood pressure was after the 3rd test 121/55.
My pulse was at 50, which is pretty cool too. I've always been able to bring my pulse down whenever I wanted too. Just depended on which ways I exercise.
I'm hoping to get it below 50, maybe below 45.

Whats the best way to gain muscle for a skinny fat? I've been the kinda guy who eats brutal foods, cookies, chips, chicken finger, pepsi, beer, vodka coke diet.. I've got a very small build around 155 pounds but have started to get a noticeable gut..
I want to get buff but I don't want to add on to an already growing gut.. Whats the way you'd go?

I take six a day. My doctor told me to keep taking them - it's almost impossible to get enough O3s otherwise.
Flax seed is a natural source, if you need more fibre.

You're not going to gain muscle unless you put in the proper work in the gym, as well as eating lots of protein/fat in your diet.
Get rid of the junk food if you're actually serious about making changes.

Yep.
Every doctor I know recommends at least 6 per day. Some do more, but nobody recommends 20 per day.
I keep wondering if Omega3s are the part of our diet that has been missing and resulted in us being fat.

So what do they do for you, in layman's terms? Should I just be going to buy a bottle of pills?

Oh ya, I'd be cutting this junk out for sure. But I'll be eating over my maintenance calories while "bulking" but I guess thats the only way to go about it eh?

That's right. But make sure you're training hard with exercises like barbell squats and deadlifts.

Has anyone ever tried, recommend or discourage from the "zig-zag" diet?
In short it is controlling your calories but moving them up and down depending on the day to average your calorie intake throughout the week.
Example: Someone is suppose to eat 1960 calories/daily to lose 1lb per week. However instead of having 1960 calories per day you break it down:
Monday: 1810 calories
Tuesday: 2060
Wednesday: 1810
Thursday: 2060
Friday: 1810
Saturday: 2360 (cheat day)
Sunday: 1810
I have been reading that it is a good way to confuse the body if you are stuck at a certain weight or need a kick start. If you eat the same amount of calories daily your body can adjust and stop burning fat.
I am going to be getting back into getting into shape and watch my diet a lot more and just thought this was an interesting way of mixing things up.
Thoughts?

Well of course you need some physical activity but that would depend on your goals I guess. Exercise is just a way of allowing yourself more calories or burning off extra calories in a day because the more you burn the more you are allowed.
Exercise doesn't actually allow you to lose weight unless you control the intake of calories coming into your body. You could work out for hours on end each day but if you are eating junk all day long to it won't balance out.
This is why it is important to not allow yourself to fill up on 'empty' calories because you will just starve yourself and your body will just shut down instead of burning what it sees as extra fat.
Also those calories are just an example as everyone (even myself) would be different depending on height and normal physical activity. So you would need to figure out your net calorie intake.

I'll tell you what's not the best way to get in shape - doing a whole bunch of dumbbell curls.
Go to the gym tonight and walk upstairs to the weight section and there are only two guys there who look like they workout. One's a short guy using one of the squat racks, the other is a black who's during some stupid stuff on the smith machine.
All the other guys look like they just joined the gym and they're all in the same area doing dumbbell curls or some variation.
One guy was pretty clueless. He was walking around wearing one of those sleeveless t-shirts to show off his arms. Now his arms did look sort of big but that's only because his torso was so small that I doubt it was much bigger than one of my thighs. On a normal sized guy they'd be average at best.
I don't feel guilty making fun of this guy because while I was getting a drink at the water fountain he felt the need to stand over top of me. I don't know why dude was that close but I hope he's not an aspiring Graham James.
