On one hand what the Jays have done this season is incredible, and even if they lose the WS it was clearly an amazing season.
On the other hand, losing to the Dodgers would suck, especially since the Jays went after Freeman (reportedly IIRC), Ohtani, Yamamoto and Sasaki and lost out on all of them. So losing to them in large part because of those players would be a pretty tough pill to swallow.

The task feels daunting with the upcoming starting pitching matchups, but all they need is one in LA to give themselves a shot back in Toronto.
For what it’s worth, I think they can hit Glasnow. Both Vladdy and Springer have good career numbers against him. Hopefully they steal one tomorrow and then back in the driver’s seat.

Personally, I think they need two of three in LA to pull this off. Can't see winning both in Toronto with the pitchers we'll face in game 6 and 7.

We've been beating some of the best pitchers in the world for weeks now. Yamamoto pitched a gem, sure, but the Jays have now seen him and will adjust. I'd prefer to finish them off in LA and avoid the trip back to Toronto though.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Dodgers don't follow their normal rotation and put Yamamoto out there early (Not game 3). In the world series you aren't worried about then next series you're playing like you would in the regular season......

That's my fear too. Bump him up to start game 5 and then he would be available to come in in some capacity if there's a game 7.

Bump him over Snell? I doubt it. All of the Dodgers starters are capable of doing what Yamamoto did. I’m sure Roberts sees it the same way. Snell was ‘off’ game 1 and still only really gave up the 2 runs before he found trouble in the 6th.
This is a unicorn rotation with 4 legitimate aces. Yamamoto might be the best but I’d bet their analytics would tell them Snell on proper rest is a better bet than short rested Yamamoto.

I think the Dodgers would rather go with Snell on regular rest than Yamamoto on short rest. Pitchers in Japan are used to 6 days rest so I don’t think you get the best out of Yamamoto by throwing him out there 3 times in a series. If they wanted to consider using him that way, they would have started him in game 1.

I would be completely shocked if they used Yamamoto before game 6.
Pitchers are creatures of habit, and they need the "feel" to be right to be at their best. If he is even slightly fatigued, he won't be at his best. Mentally he will know it, physically there will be a difference. LA has the luxury of a deep rotation, so there is no point taking the risk. It isn't about not having to worry about the next series, its about keeping the rythym of this insane hot streak he's on.

Yeah. And it's not like their other choice for game 5 is a bullpen day. Snell is a good pitcher.

My apology in advance for dragging the ugly P word into this thread...
But given the choice of Canada or a Gavin Newsome state...I could see an orange guy showing up, grabbing the trophy and taking it home with him before they present it to the winner. MLB might want this to go 6 so it's a bit tougher to pull off.

No worries Blue Jays fans, I did my part to help the cause.
Someone may or may not have placed a call to ICE calling Ohtani's immigration credentials into question...
They are going to raid Dodgers' Place like an Inglewood Taco Truck.
I did tell Vladdy Jr. that he might want to show up a bit late today...'fashionably late' like 'dont go into the building until you see the vans leave.'

That argument goes both ways. The Dodgers have seen Gausman and Yesavage and will adjust...

I would say that: a.) they did not see Yesavage with anything close to his best stuff, and so far in his young career he tends to go "one good game, one weaker game" fairly consistently. b.) Our team does not win/lose on lights out starting pitching.

I am not too worried. While Yamamoto had a great game, we got a lot of contact off of him.
Just gotta get the baseball past the infield and in between the outfielders.
