I think people got confused and read the CBA expires September 26th and not September 2026.

I do wonder now if CC packages in a Zary, Pospisil, Frost as a way to improve the overall return for Ras and get a more impactful player/asset with a higher ceiling in return.

Doesn't this hurt Anderson's negotiations as well? If he wants to sign with Vegas so bad isn't it in his best interest to go have a monster year and then test free agency? How will his agent have any leverage with Vegas if he states it's the only place he'll play.

He probably already knows what the Knights will sign him for like Marner

I remember the Flames hanging on to Camalerri (spelling!) when they didn’t get a reasonable return. I can see the same thing happening with Anderson. I’d stick him in the press box eating popcorn for a year lol. I put the blame on the agent at this point. Who knows maybe this is all blown out of proportion!

Absolutely wouldn't happen. Hanging onto someone because the best value was a rumored 3rd round pick vs a 1st plus? Too much value to make a point. Besides, as competitive as Conroy is, he won't do something out of spite.

Based on the number of times Conroy has mentioned getting texts from Burke, I wonder if he is a bit of a mentor for Craig.

I'd love to see a buddy comedy starring those two.

I keep thinking, surely it makes more sense for Ras to want say an 8 x 8m sign and trade vs whatever he gets for 6 in a year? I don't see any way he makes more money than signing an 8 year now. Maybe the deal to LA rematerializes in coming days as he mulls it over?

That is what I am thinking. I totally convinced myself there was going to be an Andersson+Zary for Byfield type deal but Rasmus wouldn’t extend there. Highly unlikely that is true but that is what incl Vince’s myself when we heard the Kings had a huge offer

Neither is Conny doing anything wrong.
They liked the player and entertained signing him.
They couldn’t agree on terms, thus they are looking to trade him.
It’s pretty straight forward to me.

Yup, fully aware of that. That is why I mentioned trade conditions.
If the Flames trade Andersson to the Sharks while he only wants to sign with VGK then the Flames would just need to build in a condition to the trade that ups our return if Andersson is re-traded within the conference or something.
I know they are not allowed to have conditions around the player re-signing anymore but I am not sure if it is possible to bake in a condition around a player being traded.
Or maybe you put in a condition around playoff games. Get a conditional 2nd round pick, unless Andersson plays 1 playoff game (on any team), then it becomes a 1st. That way if the Sharks flip Andersson to Vegas and he plays in the playoffs then we end up with their 1st.

He could have not sucked after getting wrecked by the Oilers. He has way below average offense and it was a crime against humanity for getting even 2nd unit pp time.
He is below average defensively now... -38 is hard to do when his d partners weren't even close to that number. A point man with a great shot who won't shoot... Wtf?
It's like GMs didn't watch him play last year. He is worth a 2nd and a 3rd.
But thanks to him getting named to team Sweden hopefully Conroy can get half of a Lindholm return.

Seems like a lack of planning to me but won’t be the end of the world. Conroy has done pretty well on most aspects. Can’t be 100% on everything

I wonder which good player you will hate next. I’m going to go with Coronato haha.

You'd think, but Hanfins dog #### last year with the Flames didn't hurt him.

Trade him to a rental team for a 2026 1st + B prospect and call it a day.
Having 3 first round picks in 2026 gives us great leverage to move up in the draft. Or packaging the rental team 1st and VGS 1st to move up 5 spots.

Explain how it’s a lack of planning.
He just explained that they considered signing him. Terms didn’t work so now they’re gonna trade him. What part of that is not planning?

Fair but another argument in support would be - if we were considering resigning, we should've (and maybe have) been in constant communication for offer and ask to make decisions earlier...... and not just the week before the draft.
