It's just an interesting wrinkle to this.
What happens if the Flames win that series? Perhaps Tkachuk and Johnny are still here. I don't know if that team wins a cup, but there is no doubt that series altered things.
But on the other hand it caused Tkachuk to be traded to the team that now McDavid can't beat.
The reaction from the Oilers last year was very different. They seemed to come out of that series with confidence, having won 3 straight, that they could beat them if given another crack.
This year their reaction was more defeatist. They seemed broken.
What Losers fans said when Tkachuk said he’s desperate to win the cup. How can he be as desperate as McDavid he’s won already. Those morons are so clueless. How much people hate Edmonton and that guy.
Kobe was hell bent on getting 5 rings 1 more than shaq. Some of these guys will give it everything to get these rings.
I think Connor re-signs too. He is very aware of his legacy and if he leaves Edmonton without winning a cup, it will be a huge dent in that legacy.
I am sure this is way late but who give a #### about his legacy in Deadmonton if he goes to TO, or anywhere, and wins? That is all that matters. Everyone knows if they put even a mediocre team around him they woould have mulitiple wins already.

The Panthers took the Stanley Cup to a Florida nightclub last night to celebrate with fans. In multiple videos, Matthew Tkachuk can be seen taking the mic to start a 'F*** McDavid' chant with the crowd.
Wow Florida is really trolling the oilers a ton, pretty fun to see - after owning them twice in a row there's no possible comeback from Edmonton other than to just take it at this point too. That Marchand losers sticker post to social media in particular is amazing. It's great to see a growing section of the league seeing that organization for what they are, a bunch of bottom feeding losers who tanked their way into being average again and then hired a bunch of borderline criminals who should have otherwise been out of the league when they couldn't create a decent supporting cast themselves or hit on a single draft pick outside the top 10.
Doesn't really matter what happens from here on out with the Oilers and Tkachuk, he's owned them when it counts. And they reap what they sow... they are complaining about class now but Kassian jumping him from behind was one of the most classless things in the league in recent years, no suspension, nothing. Nice to see it come back around to bite them.
Who isn't sick of hearing about that donkey? He's good for a pretty individual play per game. That doesn't warrant him eating up the entire game discussion.
Had yet another decidedly mid performance with a title on the line.
Oh and love seeing Oilers fans on Twitter all worked up over the Panthers trolling the oilers.
Watching Oilers fans' off-season misery after every lost McDavid season is endlessly entertaining. Since he was first drafted it's become one of my favourite things about summer.

The irony of a fan base getting mad at the Panthers for being classless, when they employ people like Stan Bowman, Kane, Perry, and Draisaitl is absolutely hilarious.

Oiler fans have an inability to self-reflect and understand why people are so sick of the Oilers and McDavid. I am sure players are totally sick of being asked; "So what's it like to play against Connor McDavid". And I know fans are sick of watching HNIC broadcasts of their own team playing and having McDavid and the Oilers discussed during the intermissions.

Always darkest before the dawn. I gotta say, after game 4 I was getting pretty worried about the possible eventual outcome.
However
The dawn broke in a beautiful way. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if things got really bright and the Flames caught lightning in a bottle next year?
