Unless I misunderstood they haven’t been able to complete the entire inspection so additional repairs are a possibility.

That Stampede "Hell or High Water" slogan from 2013 needs to be updated to say "Hell with No Water"

3-5 weeks changes the equation drastically. Whether it's trucking water to the reservoirs around town from Bearspaw treatment or whatever, the City really needs to look at every possible alternative now to increase the supply and get water to where it's needed. Or ways to reduce demand. Emergency funds from the Province or Feds to compensate businesses for lost revenue and ordering them to shut down?

I see City employees are now working from home.... Does that really save water? Any other employers doing the same?

Working from home they can probably get away with showering less often so that should save some water.

Yeah, this is the tradeoff I was forced to accept for the Faustian bargain I had to make to ensure a sweep. I know it's not ideal but it was clearly necessary so we're all just going to have to live with it.

People are terrible at water at the office IMO. Also, you can get away with not flushing the toilet as often at home, but at work it's an automatic sensor that probably flushes 3 times because it misfires.

5 locations have been confirmed to need repair and some more may be additional once they can inspect all of it

I know showering and toilet flushes are lower in theory by working at home, but I have my doubts as to how many people would actually follow through with this discipline....

So....what about Stampede?

Not the same. They said they can't put this burden on homeowners only for any longer. They are in contact with 7000 businesses to reduce use as well now. If that means some type of relief for homeowners will remain to be seen.

Right, he's saying that by the time they're through they might find more locations.

... so do we give Curves his victory lap now or what's the deal with that?

I think this qualifies as broken clock territory. No credit due.

Yeah 'found more spots to fix' is a far cry from 'they need outside help and are they even ready if terrorists blow up safeway'

If this had happened in a less accessible area, underneath a major building for example the Safeway next door etc it would be way worse. If this all happened in the winter during an extreme cold snap, the city and local areas are beyond screwed. We would probably be out of water.

Hopefully lessons are learned by this that can be applied to water mains and other mission critical projects. Years ago when I was in California as a child, I bought a souvenir from the 1994 Earthquake that destroyed the busiest freeway in America I believe (I 10) The city, state and contractors moved heaven and earth and cut an insane amount of red tape to deliver this project in beyond record time.
There is still nothing correct in this statement why would anyone give him credit. The city has found more areas needing repair because of their technical expertise. We are also no where near being out of water.
