Yeah, they can say that but I don't buy it. This team will have an identity complete with a crap ton of merchandise come the fall. If not much sooner.
Look how much the Knights & Kraken pulled in during their first seasons (not even counting the apparel sold prior to their first year).

I feel like with Fanatics taking over the uniforms next season and the potential delays that might come with it, that might be a factor in not wanting to rush.

These exist at a lot of places. Minute Maid Park has one. You sign a pledge and they give you a free pop/soda voucher, sometimes it's refillable for free. You don't even have to drive anyone, be there with anyone, or even have a car.
Pretty nice deal if you weren't going to drink anyway, or if you are actually being a designated driver.
