Apparently was said very tongue in cheek. He was kidding.

Hand injuries and surgeries are super finnicky. Even the best surgeon in the world is essentially flipping a coin each time.

Huh? I'm not a surgeon, but a close friend is a hand and wrist ortho. Far from coin flipping.

I have 8 screws in my right hand and while it is close it is nowhere near to what it was before the break. And rehab was the most brutal thing I have aver done. Passed out cold at my first appointment. While not a coin flip hands are extremely difficult to have heal properly.

The OEL trade was baffling at the time and still is now. They have scratched both players brought over in it and handcuffed themselves for a few more years. They could have easily been out from under two or three terrible contracts but they doubled down instead.

Don't get me started on Myers. Another ridiculous contract.

Good coin flippers can manipulate the toss to get what they want, but it isn't perfect.

So is it close, or nowhere near?

Basic movement could be back but a lot of the dexterity would be gone.

I'm not sure trying was the right move for Vancouver. They had a lot of legit high end pieces. The problem in Vancouver has always been trades and ufa signings. You can go into a rebuild and lose guys like Pettersson, Horvat, Boeser, etc.. and replace them with newer versions of that, but where does that get you if you're going to make the same boneheaded UFS signings again.

The Canucks need a new management group, and owners that interfere less.

If they can't draft anyone out of the top 10 picks they will always suck. The Oilers drafted the best player since Crosby and they are still awful because they lack be depth especially at the backend.

I don't get what the Canucks are doing. First the open criticism of BB by the president (btw....i thought the GM is Alvin...but he might as well be called an assistant GM). Now, I saw that Boudreau has been "quiet fired" and new coach hired. What kind of a joke organization treats someone like this? Just put him out of his misery already.

Good on you - no one would have known.

Of course, banking on players "finding their game again" is admitting they aren't good now. I bet it comes true less than a third of the time.

What's funny is that Jim Benning is one of the worst GM's in recent history but since his firing it's hard to find any evidence that things have improved under this new regime.

Rutherford was a terrible hire if one only considers how he treats people. Boudreau deserves way better than the passive aggressive shots Rutherford has taken at Boudreau through the media about how if a system was in place, the team would be better. Add in his push to contend this year through his trades and signings and he's proven he hasn't improved anything since Benning. While there's been evidence that ownership is driving many hockey decisions, Rutherford doesn't strike me as a guy to go along with a direction he doesn't agree makes sense. Too many Canuck fans are putting 100% blame on Aquilini - he deserves much of the blame, but not all of it.

some interesting quotes from Rutherford today. Saying he's disappointed with his own performance so far, admitting they haven't been able to move some contracts, again being very non-committal re: Boudreau (and admitting he's made calls to potential replacements for months now) and so on.

Full quotes on the TL of their beat writer (https://twitter.com/ThomasDrance).
