Gauthier? Does he really have the clout for a trade request? Doesn't stand out too much.

I get Georgiev wanting a trade. He is 26 and was once seen as a potential starter, but he won't get much of a chance behind Shesterkin. His stats last year don't look great though.

Gauthier is huge, and can really skate, but he doesn't use his size nearly enough, and hasn't shown even a sliver of the potential that made him a first-rounder. Maybe somebody somewhere can unlock that toolbox, and make him a decent bottom-6 checker. He's gotta play a much more physical brand of hockey, though.
I still have faith in Giorgiev, and I think he'll rebound in a new situation.

They can't afford to have huge contracts on the third and 4th lines if they sign Johnny.
However they don't have a allot of option with this player
Once next season is over, Monahan would not be resigned in my opinion
Not sure he can recovery from his injury history.....

He’s actually a perfect buyout candidate with 1 year left saves 4 million next year

Taking a while to get to 5000

Unless the Flames lose Gaudreau & Tkachuk, Monahan has likely played his last game as a Flame.

Yup sounds like that’s where they are trying to make the cap space.
If I’m Monahan I’d love to get a chance in NY

I feel like the Flames would probably be taking Nemeth back in a Monahan deal ... and I'd probably be fine with that.

Saw this on Reddit, and so I'm gonna share it here:
https://12ft.io/proxy?q=http://theat...-agency-trades
The important part of the article:
Quote:
The Flames’ Sean Monahan, who is coming off March hip surgery (his second in as many years) and has a year left at $6.375 million, has been discussed in trade talks as well with the Rangers, according to two sources, but he certainly would not fetch a huge cost in a trade given his downward trend the past two seasons and injury woes.

Hmmm, the Rangers hey?
Who recently asked for trades from there? I know Gauthier was one.
Flames are losing some size and toughness this off season. I could see guys like Gauthier and Nemeth being of interest to Treliving.

Kravstov and Nemeth?
Then do they re up Jarnkrok and hope he settle in at #3 C?
What about Nils Lundkvist? Could the Flames get him?

Ooo. Chytil and Lundqvist. That'd do.

Rumours of NYR looking for a 2nd line C and perhaps wanting to take a gamble on Monahan make sense, but not sure why they’d take that $6.375 mill cap hit when they could just re-sign Strome for around that amount lol. I assume we’d be retraining some salary if that’s the case, especially considering they only have $10.2 mill in cap space. If so, Kravtsov in return makes sense but if I were Treliving, I’d be eyeing down Kakko who’s an RFA and needs a new deal and clearly needs a change of scenery. However, for Kakko, we’d definitely need to retain around 50% of Monahan’s salary and add in a 2nd round pick and/or decent prospect for NYR to consider trading Kakko. I do honestly think a change of scenery and top 6 minutes would allow Kakko to shine and remind everyone why he was a 2nd overall pick.

I expect Strome wants that same money but for more than one year. They clearly might ask for retention though. Might be a bunch of conditions attached to any picks.
