A Spanish airline is actually ordering modern Zeppelins as part of their carbon footprint reduction plans.

No way! That should definitely be their very first trip! Get that out of the way right up front. They could even charge extra for it!
I'll even get the Pilots drunk and bribe them into doing a barrel-roll!
Could you imagine a barrel-roll in a Zeppelin?
"Uhh...guys...what the #### is happening...ohhhhhhh ####....this is the slowest way to die ever...."

Give them edibles then you might not have to bribe them - "Hey dude, could you imagine the first ever barrel roll" ... "Ya dude we can totally do it"

Lol! You'd have to get a drone out there to film it. That is an aerial maneuver that has to be immortalized.

"Getting off the ground" better be a major component of their business plan.

NDP demands answers on gas prices, says Albertans may be ripped off
https://calgary.citynews.ca/2022/07/...s-alberta-ndp/
Quote:
Trevor Toombs (should be Tombe), a professor of economics at the University of Calgary, says gas stations are making $0.35-per-lire in profit compared to the typical $0.08 per litre they make — a four-fold increase.

Surprise, surprise. I'm shocked I tell you.... shocked.

I'm in Toronto, and I can say the prices are about identical to Alberta's. The Ford government also removed the gas tax - and the price of gas in Toronto should be higher than Alberta's. I'm not sure what the control measure is to guarantee no price gouging over here though.
Did Jason just 'trust' that the private sector would respect the customer?

The private sector did respect the customer with the gas tax until prices started dropping about two weeks ago. So Kenny’s policy did work for a quite long period of time.
It would be interesting to actually answer why gas price is dropping faster outside of Alberta than Alberta.
Kenny was successful in his goal of reducing gas price by 13 cents a litre for Albertans up until July. Look at gas buddy’s price charts.

I'm not so sure. I'd like to see the growth of that litre-per-profit gap since April 1 for a true picture. If the drop in prices was mitigated by market fluctuations and shifting profit margin goals, that should be accounted for.
In the meantime, I will continue to enjoy lower prices in Toronto. They have been dropping slowly but steadily over the last 3-4 weeks.

Those are two different questions though.
One is are refineries or gas stations profit taking and the other is Did the policy of providing gas tax relief pss the savings into the consumer. The answer to the latter question is yes except for last two weeks.
I looked through the article but couldn’t find a reference to the context in which Tombes made that quote but agree it would be interesting to see cross Canada profit at the pump since April.

Alberta finance minister says Danielle Smith's sovereignty act is 'very problematic' for UCP
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...-act-1.6527066
On Wednesday, Nixon also said he doubted such legislation — which seeks to allow Alberta to refuse enforcement of any specific federal law or policy that goes against its interests — would pass in the legislature.
Nixon, the government's house leader, said there are three "major problems" with the act: it would break the law, it would spook investors and rock the market, and it's not possible to deliver on.
Mount Royal University political scientist Duane Bratt agrees with Nixon's assessment of Smith's proposed act.
"It would be unconstitutional, it would be illegal. It would lead to a risky investment climate in Alberta," said Bratt.
Bratt also found it notable that Nixon, a senior member of the party, is directly intervening in the leadership race on the deadline date for applicants to register to compete for the party's top position.
"We're seeing a major policy proposal, by what could be considered one of the front-runners in the leadership race, being directly attacked by a senior minister in the Kenney government."

Anybody here use the UFA card lock station on Meridian road?
Gasbuddy has the price listed at $146.5. It’s not clear if that price includes GST. If that price is correct, with or without GST, it would be worth getting a membership.
20 years ago, there was some type of government inquiry into gas prices and price fixing. IIRC, they determined there was loose price fixing with the major players and the independent stations would drive down the price in the areas they were located. If the UFA isn’t going along with the 30 cent/litre margin, we need to see lineups at their stations to help drive down the margin.

Well, yeah. Nixon is a Kenney guy, and it's pretty clear Toews is the extension of Kenney's policies. I have no doubt Kenney is directing comments towards candidates he doesn't fully agree with through proxies.
