You don't have to like the people you work with as long as you get results. If Kane can help them win games, nothing else matters.

Kane has never helped anybody win.

Besides, it would just be too confusing in regards to jersey sales.

The same can be said about most players in the NHL. ROR didn't help anyone win...until he did.
Kane will help the team score goals, or he won't. Either way, at this point we know the team doesn't score enough goals. If the options are to sign Kane and have a better shot at the cup or stick to your morals and be first round fodder again, I know what I'd take.

Did your coworker also struggle to find work, and jump from one company to tbe next while burning bridges along the way? If not, then I do not see how this analogy fits. I also had a coworker once who developed a terrible reputation for creating controversy everywhere he went—a brilliant and creative guy. He is no longer in the field, and no one misses him.

The Conference Finals, yes, but he played in a much reduced role in the playoffs than he did in the regular season. I don't think he was an especially important contributor in tbat run.

What if the choice is sign Kane and destroy your roster and any goodwill you have built with players along with it, or move forward with the roster that has put together a highly competitive and exciting first-half of the season?

a highly competitive and exciting first-half of this season and a few stinkers before then. We have no clue what's going on with Johnny or Tkachuck moving forward. This team needs to make a big push this season and poop or get off the pot. They showed on this past trip that they can't hang with the big boys. They need to improve, not just try to improve, they need to. If they have something else in motion, that's great but as crappy of a person as Kane is, he scores goals. You give up nothing to get him. Nothing. They don't have to trade a roster player or futures. There won't be any trades on the market where you can gain that much skill.

The only forwards who had more ice time per game than him were Hertl and Couture

Yea that's a big no from me. Goal scorer or not, the guy is a reprehensible human being, and I highly doubt the Flames or Sutter want an idiot like than anywhere near their locker room.

I'm sure there are others as well but Duclair is one that comes to mind since he's doing well in Florida.
Or do you only follow the Flames?

maybe I do only follow the Flames, I don't recall Duclair having character flags ( I do remember some coming out of junior) in the same stratosphere as EK?

Noooo!!!!!
Come on Edmonton! Sign him now! Right now! Just so he could be suspended on their roster!

In the 2018-19 finals, Kane had the same number of points as his linemate Hertl, averaged almost a minute more TOI/g than Couture, and was averaging five hits a game (as much as Sam Bennett against Dallas in 2020). He was not the reason that San Jose lost to a defensively tight/superior Blues team.
He is a very good hockey player that puts in a good effort on the ice, and he's the perfect fit for the hole in the Flames' offense right now.
If Treliving isn't pursuing Kane for the reason that he's "bad in the locker room", aka doesn't fit into the white hockey fraternity, that is the wrong move. Sutter has the pedigree to keep Kane in his place and Kane is likely motivated to earn a new contract for next year.
You have to risk it for the biscuit sometimes.
