At least he's signed long enough to see the new locker rooms in the new arena?

I see he's already demanded three stalls in the dressing room:
Season hasn't even started and he's already a dressing room cancer.

"The Flaming C is so iconic," the forward said from his new stall inside the Scotiabank Saddledome. "This is pretty cool to be wearing it for the first time."

It's OK. He'll move his stuff out of the two extra stalls as soon as he finds a place in town. Should be December, January at the latest.

So you think one is for his wife, the other for the kid(s)?

I guess MCL would be kind of a bad omen, with the Flames luck anyway.

They do if they're traded or sent to the minors. Also, if their team relocates, or they're claimed in an expansion draft.
It doesn't look like there is any compensation for moving expenses with free agent signings.

Being a lifelong Calgarian, I think many of us forget how incredible the mountains are, and even though its not in Calgary per se, its a pretty short drive before you are really in a completely different world.

Going out there tomorrow to see some places I haven't yet. Every nook and cranny in our rugged backyard is a delight to uncover.
Put 8000kms of just local rockies trips on the vehicle since the end of May...
We're spoiled with places a stones throw away that many people will fly 14 hours just to get a glimpse of.
Just look at a youtube video as "mundane" as the drive from yyc to canmore and commenters are just blown away. They want to spend a chunk of their savings just to come see these surroundings.
This is also why I don't buy Calgary from a location perspective as not desirable. Thats horsecrap. Was listening to 960 the other day and some American baseball insiders from the south said they took the opportunity to drive through the bc interior to banff and called it the most beautiful drive in the world.
I'd say we have a massive leg up on many places after you do your homework on the area.
Its good to the point where Edmonton puts out promotional videos pumping the fact that they're a 5 hour drive from it, because its the very best thing they have to grasp on to.

It's Canada as a whole that's not as desirable. Sure the mountains are nice but Denver has them. Sure Vancouver's nice but so is Seattle. Toronto pales to NYC. Even Toronto has issues securing non-Canadian players as it seems Americans, Europeans, and even some Canadian players prefer to play in the USA. Blake Coleman is a Flame because the Flames offered him the best contract. It is what it is.

I'm sorry, but comparing the Colorado Rocky Mountains (and I love them...spent much of my childhood in Colorado) to the mountains of NW Montana and the Alberta/BC border is like comparing apples to oranges. They are not the same.

If there was only a place to debate why players won't sign in Calgary other than a thread about a player who signed in Calgary! Lolololol

There's a reason why Jagr — who played in nine different NHL markets, including Florida and New York — recommended Calgary to Dan Vladar after the trade last week.
The scenery surrounding Calgary is phenomenal.
