I don’t think the GM has the coaching fire lever as an option anymore (or at least he shouldn’t). Which means the “quick fix plan” isn’t an option here. We’ll need to wait for the GM to get fired before a new coach is picked, which is probably the right call, but it does mean this season is likely a write off.

Not that there's a lot to do out there with Covid anyway but since the NHL resumed I would plan my evenings/days around Flames games.

Not going to bother anymore.

This is simply too painful to watch.

I'll take Brouwer in between periods over Stajan everytime.

We should have just traded whatever we could for Dubois. This teams never going anywhere without a center who can carry play himself.

Thank you, Geoff Ward.
Damn, that is atrocious.

I don't get this stuff that's happening on Sportsnet.

For almost a decade, they didn't critique our goalies.

This year? We get awesome goaltending, and Loubo/Wills/Sportsnet are shining lights on the goalies and completely ignoring the absolute incompetence behind the bench?

Kris Versteeg and Craig Button are supplying actual analysis this year.

Unless ownership figures its seen enough and makes that call.

Kind of too bad they didn't keep the position of President of Hockey Ops but good on Tre I suppose for making sure that it was just him and then the owners.

Fire the GM and let Conroy or Pascal or Maloney take the interim tag then. Fire the coach and get someone for the rest of the year. Start afresh in the off-season summer. This year is not a write-off yet. Let it not be.

I agree with those that have said it's unlikely just Ward's fault. This team chronically seems to struggle with consistency, mental toughness, etc.

But, I also agree we've yet to see a coach with an established track record get a shot with this team. I think both are serious issues with this team frankly.

A Gallant/Boudreau type of coach in with a big shakeup trade is probably what's needed, but logistically I don't think Treliving makes either, especially during the season. Which only complicates the problem because the solution then is to replace Treliving, which means you're gambling that whoever comes in next doesn't also run into the blindspots.

At this point what’s the use of even firing ward. May as well tank and hope for a miracle in the draft. This is just not a good team and the positive games are just too few and far between.

Yeah, fully agree. Going to lose this season, then you likely see Tre gone with Ward and the new guy will pick the next coach.

He is articulate and has poise, considering being new to the tv screen. Get him more experience as well, for the purpose of letting him or Stajan be the backup colour analyst for Hrudey.
