I don't think he touched it as he didn't even try to get the ball after it went by but it's going to be tough to overturn the call on the field. It looks close.

I'm not sure he touched that...but not sure if there's enough to overturn it. Initial call likely to stand either way it was called I think

I think the idea was for situations where a ball would hit a foot or something of the receiving team so the ball is live but not possessed.

It's clear from that one view that he didn't touch it. You can see from the side view only the thumbs could have touched it but from the front view you can see the thumbs didn't touch it so this is the right call to overturn.
