He is cheating more and more out there and its giving the opposition easy goals. The third goal isn't a bad goal but Smith goes down way too early on a bad angle play so the pass across is just shot into an open net. A competent NHL goalie is able to slide across on that play and force the shooter to actually make a good shot.
But BT said he did not have many hard miles on him. Smith should not be that old. Maybe BT just bought a lemon, it happens now and then (Hiller, Elliott, and now Smith)

lol there's no way you can put the blame Gaudreau for that goal. If Smith could stop literally anything, that would have been a nothing play.

Also if we're going to make excuses for Mike Smith for every bad goal that goes in we're going to wear out our keyboards.

I don't think I'd like that call as an Avs fan. Seemed okay to me.

If we can at least score one before the end of the period, that would be swell.

He's 36 years old. Declining performance has nothing to do with miles. He's a little slower and is simply getting beat on shots. It's been happening all year. Exactly the same as what happened to Hiller. It's over. He's done.

A lot of hate for Smith but no hate for Gaudreau with the bad turn over in the neutral zone and then the "controller disconnected" drift as he watched the play develop? I get that it wasn't the best goal, but your best players can't be making bad plays like that if you want to succeed.

Wasn't a head shot at all. If the refs want to give a charging penalty, that's fine but questionable. But it was a textbook check. Save for the charge. It's hockey not ringette.

That was just a hard, clean hit. Didn't see if it was charging or not.
