Lazar has shown nothing to indicate he should be played on the #1 line. I like Lazar too but he's going to have to fight his way up the lineup from the bottom.

Anything other than this will be a major disappointment. You can justify Andersson and Gillies being sent down but Jankowski deserves to be here.

I feel like management wants Glass here for toughness but I don't know how that will work.

That is what we will see this year.
Could be. But the reality is, Jankowski will be sent back again. I just don't see them demoting Stajan (even though I think it would make more sense).

Baffled how many people have Versteeg on the fourth line. Guy has arguably been our best player in the preseason and has chemistry with Bennett.

I would love to see this tried...

Johnny - money - ferly
Chucky - Bennett - jagr
Versteeg - backs - fro
Jank - staj - brower

I think chucky in particular needs to be on a line with jagr.. pushes him over the top in terms of learning how to dominate in the offensive zone

Again the problem with putting Tkachuk with anybody is he forces them to get into scrums. Backlund and Frolik both accepted that and leaned into it.

But you wouldn't want Jagr, Gaudreau, or Monahan getting dragged into that. It's why Bennett seems like the long-term complementary player to Tkachuk.

Looking back, I wasn't that far off, but I never would have predicted Jagr signing here. I am a bit shocked Janko was sent down but I think we will see him very soon.

So opening night roster for tomorrow night now that we know the roster:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Bennett - Brouwer
Glass - Stajan - Hathaway

Hamilton and Lazar as the 13th and 14th

What I want to eventually see:

Gaudreau - Bennett - Jagr
Tkachuk - Monahan - Ferland
Janko - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Lazar - Brouwer (he needs to turn things around and accept his 4th line role).

With Stajan and Hathaway as 13th/14th and send Hamilton down. I don't think this will happen though.

I think you run the top 9 as a rotation, Backs' line is the shutdown line, and then we have 2 scoring lines. Monahan against the top centers and Bennett's line a bit sheltered and more O-zone starts. This is so incredibly balanced on paper.

Regardless of lines I wonder which linemates of Jagr will see an elevation of their overall game.

I'd love to see what happens by the end of the year with Everyone.

Jagr has to bring an element which cannot be seen behind closed doors and off the ice.

To see a guy with his credentials and still Loving the game is rare as hell.

I hope that Bennett Tkachuk Jankowski Ferland etc ... our young guys learn and enjoy seeing , eating, breathing, living Jagrs experience and can all become better as a result of him being here.

As a fan I'm so excited this is actually happening and know several players Ascension to being better over all Will be accelerated by this.

Clearly a lot of people don't like GG's forward lineup. Just curious what people think would be the best winning lineup, with players currently on the Flame (no trades).

Just the forward group, as defence is set in stone.

After watching last night's game, my opinion has changed a bit, I'd roll with....

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Bennett - Jagr
Stajan - Jankowski - Lazar

That lineup has always made sense to me. Unless Ferland can't handle the top line job on a full time basis. Then you might try Jagr or Frolik. Or maybe Jankowski (with a bottom line of Stajan, Lazar, Ferland).
