Juts saw a southbound line of law enforcement vehicles driving at a slow pace deerfoot. Just south of Dunbow road. 4 motocyles in front, an unmarked sedan and then maybe 15 others , mostly SUV. All had lights going but no sirens

Any idea what it was?

Likely the memorial for Rod Lazenby (Bylaw officer who was killed).

Yeah, in the sweater on the right, is it proper to have the shirt collar inside or outside the sweater? That one is being worn inside the sweater.

Maybe it depends on the shirt? Carlton has those little buttons on the tips of his collars to hold the collar down so inside the sweater makes more sense in that case. On bigger collars it is probably better to wear them out, but I have no idea what is correct.

Based solely on the pictures I saw of Carlton online inside seems to be the best way but then again I'm not sure if I'd take fashion advice from some guy on the internet who is taking fashion tips from a cheesy character from an early 90s TV show. Then again Carlton was/is from Bel-air.

Also most of Carlton's sweaters seem to have rather tight necks. It depends on how big the neck is on the sweater, and as Sliver mentioned, the type of shirt collar that you have on the dress shirt.

What has been the cost of living increase over the past 4 years in Calgary? I haven't had a raise since 2008 and need some figures to go into the meeting with.

From StatsCan:

Using 2002's Consumer Price Index as the 100% baseline, Calgary's CPI in 2008 was 121.8 (http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tabl...con45a-eng.htm) and in July 2012, it was 126.4 (http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tabl...pis02a-eng.htm).

So, that's about a 4% increase.

Shirt collar should definitely be inside the sweater collar if the sweater collar is tight enough. No question.

If it's a really deep v-neck (or a dinky shirt collar), then your shirt collar will probably come out - in this case, it's no big deal. Submit to your shirt's free will. It depends on the cut of the sweater and the shape of the shirt collar.

Carlton is wisely wearing shirt with a button-down collar, so he doesn't have these problems.

I got one; Anyone know a good place to buy a (finished/unfinished) liquor cabinet? I've been nosing around some sites and everything is around 1K looking for something a little cheaper maybe $300 to $500.

Button downs, there is a guy in my office that wears them, but never buttoms them down. Claims you don't have to, it's an option, I think it must be buttoned down.

THoughts?

Again, I say it depends. When wearing a jacket and tie, some guys like to leave the buttons undone, probably in part because it shows a kind of "devil-may-care" attitude. Studied nonchalance. Also partly because a BD collar looks a little goofy cinched tight with a tie when buttoned down (IMO). If I was wearing a tie and jacket, I would just opt for a spread collar instead.

Could be a cool look, but depends on the person and the rest of the outfit - It's something that I don't think a lot of people can pull off. Comes across either sloppy or try-hard depending on the wearer.

If he's wearing the shirt sans tie and jacket, I don't know why he would leave the collar unbuttoned. Without a tie, there is nothing to hold your collar up to frame your face - that's where the button down collar comes in.

It's your coworker's own unique thing, so all the power to him. But, I probably wouldn't do it.

Does he do up his fly? Maybe he believes that's optional too. I think they obviously should buttoned down.

I have no idea about his fly, I don't look at men's groins.

But I am glad you agree about the collar.

Thanks,

Was coming back into town from vacation, heard it on the news a little while ago. From the sound of it, it happened the say I left.

So what is the deal with the fog over the river this morning out in the NW by COP? Driving on Stoney W I had to do a double take because it was so thick it was like the whole valley had been erased.

I wish I would have taken a photo.
