Glad to see Jerry Meals is back doing a great job after blowing a crucial call last night in Baltimore like did in Atlanta last July. Mark Teixeira ripped him for his amazing call last night, he knows he likely get will fined but he doesn't care. Great news for the NY Yankees/Baltimore they have this great umpire again today.

While I agree that Meals blew the call - Texeira also made the call that much more probable by head first sliding... He beats that out by a step if he doesn't slow down to slide into the bag. Just a comedy of errors in that play.
Lincecum carried a ghastly 6.42 ERA into the All-Star break. He has the best number on the Giants' staff since at 3.33.
These are not just abstract statistics. As the Giants march toward a National League West title, which gained more inevitability with Wednesday night's series-clinching, 8-3 victory over the Rockies, Lincecum is making a strong case that even if he is not the Freak of old he can still be an effective postseason starter.
Going to New York for October 14-21. If the Yankees are still playing, whats the best way to pickup couple ticks? I don't care where the seats are I just wana experience Yankee stadium.
Ya the Rays are really dropping aren't they, haven't they lost 4 in a row? Surprising, as they typically seem to be the team that peaks this time of year - maybe the yjust hit their peak too early this time around.
Regardless - go O's and A's!!! Dylan Bundy to get called up today as well - will be interesting to see how they handle him if one of their starters falls out of Buck's good graces.
Man, Kris Medlen has been downright lethal after coming out of the bullpen. I believe he would have meet the same fate as Stephen Strasburg if he started the year in the rotation, as you might remember he had Tommy John Surgery in 2010 too. Something like 15 days before or after Stephen Strasburg.
Atlanta has won 21 games in a row started by Kris Medlen, the record is 22 held by two people. Kris Medlen has an 0.76 ERA since coming outta of the bullpen in his 10 starts, allowed 7 ER in that span too. If Fredi González doesn't start him in the October 5th NL Wildcard he should be fired right after he says Tim Hudson's name.
Miguel Cabrera is now one home run behind Hamilton who's having health issues. He's making a serious run at the triple crown. Mike Trout has had a great season, but I think Cabrera would be the MVP in the AL.
In the NL it's between McCutcheon and Buster Posey in my opinion. That's a tough choice, both play key positions. McCutcheon has better numbers, but he has faded off late in the season which has taken the Pirates out of the race. Whereas Posey keeps going despite playing a more demanding position. I would probably pick Posey today.

Yeah, I was checking out Medlen's numbers as you were posting that. He'll come up about 40 innings short of qualifying for the ERA crown. If he had a few more innings pitched he'd be a serious contender for the NL Cy Young.

Baltimore does it again winning their 15th straight extra inning game tonight. Guess who delivered the game winning RBI? None other than Adam Jones with a two run homer to left in the 11th. IMO Adam Jones is a very underrated baseball player. Only 1/2 half of game back of the NY Yankees.
The A's lost Brett Anderson last night with an oblique injury. Anderson is now the 3rd vet pitcher the A's have lost in the last month or so, Colon (suspended) and McCarthy (brain surgery after getting hit with a line drive). Travis Blackely gets back into the rotation. Can the A's hold on to a WC spot? Tough schedule down the stretch here as well.
Trout, given that scenario what if Oakland beat Baltimore? Would they play Texas or did they change the rules about two teams from the same division can't play each other in the division series?

No longer a rule.
