Looking to join my brother in Vegas just for a night on Aug 26-27. What are the best places for flights? Same as the usuals? (kayak, expedia, etc..)

Just stayed 4 nights at the Venetian and have to say they have the best "basic room" of all the hotels we have stayed at. 650 square ft, which is why they essentially call all of their rooms suites. Booked fairly last minute and got in for 180 a night plus 25 resort fee. Main pool was just as busy as any other in the summer, but the second pool in the venezia tower was great.

Tried 4 great restauarants- B & B ristorante, Delmomico steakhouse, Bouchon, and Tao. Bouchon might also be one of the best breakfasts in Vegas.

I much prefer the hotels just outside the center of the strip like Wynn and Venetian. Bellagio and Ceasers are packed at all times of the day while Wynn, Mandalay etc dont seem to get as much traffic.

We booked our flights only a few days in advance and just ended up going directly with westjet.com as everything else was essentially the same price. It can be really difficult finding a cheap flight if you wait too long.

Just booked our second trip to Vegas for October. We're going with another couple but we arrive one day early and they leave one day later than us.

Landing around 8:00 on a Sunday night and thinking about grabbing a nice/upscale meal with our extra evening in town. But obviously won't be checked into our hotel & such till after 9:00ish.

Any recommendations for a nice late dinner on Sunday night? Thinking fish/sea food and/or sushi kinda stuff. Decent wine list. We did American Fish at Aria last time we were there and loved it, but with them closing at 10:30 it's cutting it tight.

As mentioned in my post, Tao at the venetian was incredible- Japanese/sushi kind of place, with awesome atmosphere. We were fine eating a late meal there in August, but not sure what the case may be in Oct. im sure it would be fine.

Are there any decent limos from the airport to the strip? I buddy and I are going down there this month and he hasn't been before so I thought it might be fun. The last time I got a limo from the airport it was $70+ for a ratty limo (pretty sure there were parts held together with duct tape) and no drinks were available.

The last time I was in Vegas we used presidential limos. They were fairly nice and their web airport deal comes with a bottle of champagne (Not commenting on the Quality of the Champange).

Get a hold of the hotel you are staying at and see what they can offer you. If they can't help you, ask to speak to (or email address ) a hostess, I know for a fact that you don't have to be a whale to get the VIP services from time to time.

Has anyone been to a UNLV football game? Any tips or comments appreciated, looking at going to the Nov 2 game. Never been to a NCAA game before. Tickets are cheap but, but there looks to be a $100 fee for tailgating??? Wanna spend the day there but do we need to purchase this?

Would that just be a fee if you were setting up your own tailgate? I can't imagine they'd charge you just to wander through

Yep thats what it looks like, website is much better when using a computer. $100 bucks gets you 3 parking passes, and a reserved 30'x 60' area to set up your party.

Cant speak on UNLV although other locations would be pretty similar.
No booze in the stadium so everyone tries to drink enough to pre drink + what the expect to drink during the game in a couple hours of tailgating.
The last game I went too had a student side and "everyone else" side. If you can get on the student side it will be 10x more enjoyable (assuming you want to party which is the only reason you would go to a game).
Don't miss half time. Its not like a stamps game where you watch a couple people eat fish tacos.

Line up a driver. Not much for cabs after games.

just got back from the UNLV /SJSU game, tailgating was okay, game was no hum. Crowd only have capacity or less, maybe 20000?. Not a really a college football atmosphere.

Went to Zarkana last night at Aria 7:00 pm show. One of the performers on the "Wheel of Death" fell and missed the mat. Horrible to watch but it sounds as though he will be fine. As we were watching the show I was thinking that Zarkana wasn't as good as the other cirque shows we've been to. As well, we noticed at least four other errors earlier in the show including two missed catches in the trapeze act.

Any tips for rental cars? I'm heading down to Vegas for a week and need a car the whole time. Is it cheaper to rent ahead of time on something like Priceline, or will I be able to get a good deal down there? Also I've heard that you get free insurance through some credit cards?

You can usually get a rider on your personal auto insurance to cover rentals....

I ended up booking ahead of time as I was booking in disneyland and going to vegas. It was pretty damn cheap for the full day and I used my CC for my insurance there. Just make sure you pay for the rental with your card

Grimaldi's at Palazzo is quite good NY style pizza. Not quite as good as the Grimaldi's in Brooklyn, but I make sure to stop by every trip.
