I'm going back to school this year, so I probably don't need the distraction...so I may just make a point and not buy this years game. First time since NHLPA 93.
Be A GM is all I play, and if they basically spit in our faces again this year then they are not getting my dollar.

How in the hell is Bartschi only a B-. That's crazy talk.
As unrealistic as BeAGM mode is, I still love playing it. It's my favourite mode in the NHL series.
Besides, it's surprisingly more in depth than EA's other sports games (i.e., Madden, NBA [when they were still making it]).

How so does it have more depth then Madden? Madden pretty much overhauled their franchise mode this year and finally giving it respect once again. Still got a long way to go due to lack of attention.

I really hope that its easier to make trades in Be a GM mode.
Perhaps a "GM Mode" or Season mode within the UHL Mode would be cool

I'm so torn. I really want to take a break from getting it this year. I really do. But I always give in to temptation.

Quick player editing question: Since the addition of "playing styles" was introduced, does that remove the stereotype names (IE Power Forward, Sniper, Defensive D)? Additionally, how many offensive player styles are there for the D? I noted 2 were mentioned earlier in the thread, but none of them fulfill the Regehr-esc "dump and staple yourself to the blue line" style.

Hey Jobo,
First of all thank you for informing us. Can you give us a brief rundown of the player equipment? Did they add anything new or is it a rehash of what they had last year.

Jay Bouwmeester was 84 overall in the last game too, but played more like Bobby Orr. I don't know many times I've had a breakaway with Bouwmeester only to have him get back in position before the other team can rush. I heart video game Bouwmeester.

agreed. i haven't got madden, but reading up on what's available this year in it's franchise mode, specifically, within game AND throughout season hot/cold streaks, scouting, ufa negotiations, team playing style changes based on roster changes, all sound downright amazing, and all could be utilized to enhance the nhl franchise experience.
overall, be a gm, is the mode i play most in NHL. Hope the bugs found aren't show stoppers

It doesn't sound like bugs, it sounds like general 'go f yourselves we know you'll pay anyways' from EA.

Sounds to me like the game is just barely worth the purchase for the improved mechanics.
I'm sure glad they found a way to squeeze more money out of HUT, though.
*sigh*

Be a Pro in the demo to me anyways felt like a much more authentic experience, and I play online VS play 90% of the time. The gameplay is much improved in every area to me. This game will be totally worth the $60.

I feel your pain. Every single gatdang year I say to myself this is the year I don't get the game. Players are to cheap online, the games the same, to expensive, etc. I've been saying that since NHL07 and I have every one since . I told myself this was the year I give the 2K series a chance since supposedly this year was supposed to be amazing. Then I found out that 2K wasn't happening this year. Maybe I'll wait a couple months and buy a used copy. But goddamn I try so hard every year to not buy it.

Yeah just bought it,
Does the release happen early on in the day? I would rather download it while I'm at work, actually how does this season ticket work exactly?

Released tommorrow in Europe, cannot wait for this to come out. I always feel like it is the official start to the season when the new EA NHL game comes out

So does the download just cease to work come release day? That's a pretty interesting way to do it.

Anybody know if they're making the arenas more realistic? Like in the CHL and such
