I’m slowly becoming a Racing Point fan.... and I find myself wondering how Red Bull would be if they still had the Max/Daniel combo. Renault just doesn’t seem to make the car they think they do.

I really wish there was another works team.

Nissan or Porsche would be good.

Happens quite frequently that a big name will be linked but never comes to fruition. I think it’s the cost of developing the hybrid. So you’d need a company big enough to see value in it, like Merc or Honda. I personally think it’s unlikely see another Ferrari type team ever again. Porsche is owned by VW, so that size and backing is there. Oh and they also went thru the whole emissions scandal with VW when they were linked a while ago. Iirc that sidetracked any focus on F1. Maybe I’m thinking of the rumour before last tho. That seemed like a while ago.

Unfortunately I don’t see any new entrants until F1 can show that the new regs, rules and Concorde agreement are sound and viable for a new works team to join F1 and be able to survive long term. Way too many teams, big and small, have flamed out because Bernie used to love milking new teams dry, sort of like Springfield in the Radioactive Man movie episode of the Simpsons.

That and the whole VW pulling out of combustion motorsports.

It's unfortunate because you would think developing a hybrid would be a natural transition and a great opportunity.

So does Ferarri just go into the race with a strategy for Leclerc and just roll with it for Vettel? Seemed liek they didn't even know what to do once they only had one car going

This is starting to feel like the "top 6 and then the rest" days of Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes. Only now it is a top three almost automatic Hamilton-Bottas-Vertappen.

I'm enjoying the mid range battles, but ultimately you watch for the winner and it's pretty stale for me, these days.

Wonder if Vettel could have held on for 6th had they told him earlier they were running to the end.

Ferrari is so broken right now I don't think even Hamilton couldn't fix it.

IAlbon had a nice drive. That overtake on Ocon was special. Don't really fault Red Bull for putting him on the hard for his second stint, if it worked it would have put him 5th, maybe 4th even.

Crazy how much the racing line cleans up at Barcelona, I don't remember seeing that being so distinct before. Guess we are normally in summer break which means races aren't having these track temperatures.

Blue flags should not be applied to the top 5 or 10 runners. That was a #### penalty on Perez.

Kind of a dull race. I'd like to see any new tracks, and if possible modification to old ones, to shorten the pit stops considerably. If they could get the pit deficit to around 10 seconds, we might see a lot less tire saving and more pit stops. All they have to do is bypass a few corners to shorten pit loss. Obviously this would be harder at some tracks than others, but would be worth it for the improvements.

Alright...here are the results from British #2 and Spain GP.

Britain#2 - Fuzz gets top honours this week with 3 correct slotted and the fastest lap point putting him 1 ahead of Fleuryisgod (also with 3 picks). Race for 2nd tightens as Jayswin only puts in 9 picks. 8pts covers 2nd to 9th.
Spoiler!

Spain - Ugh. What a terribly boring race. Bottas simply is not a winner. Has some rather bad luck (tire failures at the worst times ala British + Baku GPs) but is simply not nearly aggressive enough. Hamilton is on a different planet.

Some great picks though (again FU Bottas, lol) as Agulati takes top honours by 1pt over Arsenal14 and Cecil. 2nd also changes hands as Arsenal14 moves up and Jayswin drops to 5th.
Spoiler!

Agreed on the Spanish Grand Prix being a bit of a dozer. It was good to catch up on, though, once the flames lost their game.

The Spanish GP is always boring, Barcelona is a terrible track.

If Hungary and Catalunya never came back, I wouldn’t be the slightest bit upset. Monaco and Singapore may be a procession but at least it’s a fun watch.

All teams have signed the Concorde agreement for the next 5 years. Yes, even Haas.

I have absolutely no idea why they hold onto their drivers, particularly Grojean. Try something new already. I wonder if they could get a Merc or Honda engine?

End of an era as Williams has been sold to an American PE group. They say they'll be keeping the name and FW chassis designation.

I'm shocked and slightly sad, probably hasn't hit me yet as I'm completely desensitized from last night's debacle.
