Quite the light show. Based on the radar I thought I had enough time to wander up the hill to a field to get out of the oppressive lights. A very cool few minutes. Spidey sense told me it was time to go and about 30 seconds after turning back hurricane gusts started. Not a ton of rain and I was fine to run home (downhill!), but within the 3 minutes I spent at the hill the lightning went from a relatively far off 180 degree wall SE-S-SW to 360 degree encirclement of Broadcast Hill. Pretty cool...and just a little scary, but sometimes it's worth doing things that you know are stupid! I was 95% sure I would find myself running (not jogging) home when I set out.
Storms are awesome (except for the home ownership part).

We deserve a break!
It's windy and I can occasionally hear thunder rumble in the distance. I'm fine if that's all we get.

Nice thorough car washing. Had to make sure to turn it 180° to get both sides perpendicular to the wind.
Too bad this is happening before the Aug 26th-Sept 23 window.

Globalfest has their work cut out for them to top that Lightshow...holy hell!
The thunder and lightning was shaking our windows for a bit there!
No damage so really we just got to enjoy the show!
Scared the hell out of my dog though.

I'll post pictures when I get my internet back, but I had a lightning strike 8 feet from my window that split a tree, I just got power back an hour ago, but it looks like Shaw is still down.
grrr.
When the lightning hit it was like a bomb went off. I thought I was dead.

Not all of us have those fandangled new camera phones you youngins have. We have to download the pictures off our digital cameras to our Canon software on our IBM tower computer and then when the DSL is back online we can upload them to Photobucket.

I actually cheered because I thought it was the big one.
I've been in a lot of weird weather. I was caught in a hurricane in Texas, I went through a tornado just outside of Calgary. I haven't been near a volcano erupting, but its on my bucket list, and preferred way to die.
But this lightning strike was just utterly violent, and it came out of nowhere

Went 24 hours without power, and about nearly two days without internet, or cable.
I couldn't cook, lost a bunch of food.
Weird weekend.

Your comments are pretty concerning.
“cheered because I thought it was the big one”
“preferred way to die”
Are you ok? You can PM me if you want.
