Too bad the Mars thing is all just a grift, like FSD. He's been working on Starship for well over a decade and has yet to have successful flight. But as recently as March he's pretending they'll have one on the way to Mars by the end of next year, and *snicker* have people likely going by 2031.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk has said his Starship rocket will head to Mars by the end of next year, as the company investigates several recent explosions in flight tests.

Human landings could begin as early as 2029 if initial missions go well, though "2031 was more likely", he added in a post on his social media platform X.

Musk has long targeted a trip to Mars. In 2016, he said he was planning to send his Dragon spacecraft as early as 2018.

The billionaire said in 2020 that he remained confident that his company would land humans on Mars six years later.

In 2024, he said he would launch the first Starships to Mars in 2026, with plans to send crewed flights in four years.

This is the equivalent snake oil as

October 2016 By the end of next year, said Musk, Tesla would demonstrate a fully autonomous drive from, say, a home in L.A., to Times Square ... without the need for a single touch, including the charging.

Mars is no different. No one is going to Mars on a SpaceX rocket anymore than your Tesla will be an appreciating asset out being a taxi for you, within 2 weeks, for sure.

I am of two minds, I think that he is a moron, but without a doubt, star link is the best rural/remote internet on the market, and frankly it is better than a lot of the internet in the city ( from when I remember).

Starlink is another thing he gets credit for that he just screwed the guy over who came to him with the original idea.

Fortunately there are several other providers who will be an option in the near future. But yes, I've used it on boats a few times and it sure is nice to have internet anywhere. It's definitely not better than most city internet though.

This is among the things that piss me off the most. He is a categorical idiot, but people of genuine technical proficiency seem to flock to him, do excellent work, for which he takes credit! And then he treats them like dirt.

The real innovators, the people doing the real work are the ones being ground beneath his boot heels because he has fooled idiocracy into worshiping upon his altar in his cult of personality.

Elon Musk...the man...provides no value and no utility. He simply understands how to exploit it out of others.

It's been 5 years since i've lived or worked in a city so that could be wrong. For the record I would love another option. But It would only be a moral choice because the service is amazing.
