Isn’t this basically how Carter escaped Columbus? They set a precedent.

Not a good look for the player or coach, but Torts may have just submarined his GM here.

Torts had no choice after that. He would lose the team if he let that slide.

His attitude through this would definitely give me pause in terms of what I would give up. He's coming across very entitled and selfish.

Everyone can say its Dubois fault for a controller disconnect play by the boards, but Tortorella has been screaming in this guys ear on the bench for games now. You can't say that isn't extreme mismanaging of a bad situation with the player and that Tort's doesn't have an extreme chip on his shoulder to make Dubois' life a living hell until he's gone.
Just don't dress him. Now it looks like Dubois is a bad teammate diminishing CBJ's ability to maximize a return.

Just trade him already so I don't have to read about him anymore.

I don't think this is a good situation for anybody. I probably wouldn't hold this against Dubois. He's extremely talented and I'd like him to become a Flame.

Or could be the coach, and player and they just don't mesh well together? I couldn't see Ward handling Dubois the same way. I think Torts is more driven than a lot of coaches which may work for some but not for others.

I don’t know...I just saw that shift tonight that caused him to get benched.
Once a guy is giving up on the team like that and just starting to do stuff on the ice that could cause you to lose a game, then you need to think twice I think.
How long before he’s unhappy here and starts doing the same thing? Not like he had that much to really be unhappy about in Columbus. Decent contract, top 6 minutes, has played with other skilled guys, and the team isn’t horrible.

All of a sudden Pierre-Luc Dubois & David Savard for Sam Bennett & Noah Hanifin + seems more likely now.
Tkachuk - Dubois - Lindholm
Gaudreau - Monahan - Dubé
Lucic - Backlund - Mangiapane
Simon - Ryan - Leivo
Giordano - Andersson
Välimäki - Savard
Mackey - Tanev
Nesterov
Markström
Rittich
Pierre-Luc Dubois probably ends up going to the Rangers for Ryan Strome + though.

The last thing I want to see is the Flames backing out on Dubois out of concerns about his motivation and then him go to Vegas or Colorado and put up 100 points.

He wants a bigger stage, does he not? Any Canadian team offers a huge stage. But who knows where he wants to go. He certainly can't force a trade anywhere.

The Flames should look into it obviously but if he doesn't want to come it won't work here either

I think replace DeAngelo with one of Shishterkins or Georgiev and Chicago retains 20% salary. Looks good for both teams. Can’t see the Rangers giving DeAngelo up and Chicago goaltending is questionable. The deffense is awful to however. Kane is their trump and any deal involving him needs to address more then one need.

Big shocker of a response from Mr. Coffee to my pondering of a trade topic around a player who is been speculated on to death in the trades/speculations thread recently... you either give up way too much or your a homer not giving up enough... that’s not why I post suggestions I really am looking for a good hockey discussion... It’s honestly why I post less in this thread and in general, this forum can have poster be so sensitive to someone who merely pontificates thoughts in the friggen trade and speculation thread.....
What.. what on earth on no!?!? He’s giving to much up in a hypothetical trade again! Are you serious?!?
Like really... that’s the response you can type up? How far off is that trade really man?? I mean take Hanifin out...
Dube + 1st + 2nd + Pelletier
Does that get it done? Maybe? Sub Hanifin for Dube instead in that package? Does Columbus a bite? Monahan?? Is it too much to ask for a reasonable response and work towards what you think would be a reasonable offer out of those pieces I proposed rather than a cheesy reply? I can keep to reading man fine by me.

Fair enough I apologize and I share your sentiments about the board and I should not contribute to that. I find myself posting less and being interested less as well. Sorry man, just thought that proposal was insane and yeah your second one taking Hanifin out makes a bit more sense.
Honestly I think Calgary needs to understand if he’d be happy here before going and unloading to get him. Not worth the price if he’s going to come over and pout and quit on plays like he did tonight.
And I think the PLD hype on this site is also insane for what it’s worth. I’m usually first in line for the bash Monahan train but the Monahan and a first stuff was ludicrous to me. They’re pretty close with PLD having a touch more upside but this is not the next Eric Lindros. This is not a 100 pt player or even a 90 pt player I don’t think. Maybe he can reach around that 70-85 range realistically. So what is he really worth? Understanding it’s not all points and we could use his grit and size in the playoffs, you can’t afford to be continually giving up all these high end picks year over year for decades and expect different results as a franchise.

When was the last time the Flames gave up high picks for a player of Dubois' calibre? Probably Hamilton, right? That was a steal of a trade.
And before that.........
I can think of a lot of instances of the Flames giving up high picks for mediocre players. But a guy like Dubois, a guy who gives you that 80-90-point potential... is that not the kind of player who you trade firsts to get?
