I absolutely hate referee blaming as I think it’s generally lazy and just excuse making but man, our U20 men’s squad got absolutely Concacafed with the worst red card + penalty call I’ve seen in a very long time, if ever. Defender tries to block a shot and collides with the attacker after the ball is long gone. Happens multiple times a game. If I can find a video I’ll post it

The report today in the dismissing of the Canadian appeal of the 3 points, lead to some emails between Priestman and her staff, which the CSA provided Fifa.

The CSA also in the same documents and explanation threw Herdman very specifically under the bus unequivocally.

https://www.tsn.ca/westhead-tribunal...CS%2FMIX%2FRFY

We suspect that the practice of using a drone stems back to John Herdman when he was the head coach of the women’s national team,” Canada Soccer wrote to FIFA on July 27, according to the FIFA document. “In other words, this was a practice started by one person – John Herdman – and continued by Bev Priestman. It was not facilitated by the federation. New Canada Soccer administration is supporting a full independent investigation of this issue and has already taken steps to ensure that this scouting tactic does not happen again.”

Unreal. First of all they "suspect"? It was or it wasn't, but why not speculate and defer and blame and easy scape goat, which the CSA has no trouble in finding... it's the same blame game they've gotten good at for so many decades in blaming each other in the organization internally and in turn wasting time and getting nothing done for the game.

Fine, maybe it was him. But to have the utter nerve to follow that by saying "It was not facilitated by the federation" is absolute trash. So for 13 years, including all the emails that the CSA submitted between Preistman and others at the CSA, and the years and years, the CSA never provided any "facilitation" for the spying program ? No CSA employees knew about it, or their role was to do this? The CSA is saying they had zero idea any of this was happening right under their nose, and it was a mastermind covert operation by a rouge head coach who kept it all a secret.

CSA has and never will change. Maybe a coach brought it in, but the CSA knew about it, had employees as part of the program of spying on teams, did nothing about it for a decade, but now claim complete innocence once caught and naivety and faux shock about it and suspect they should blame a single person for it.

Also stupid by the CSA...because now you just directly called your own Olympic gold medal into question...because you opened the door that this has been happening for 13 years.

Looks like Derek Cornelius to Marseille is happening. Glad he got away from the Whitecaps who almost buried his career.

Nothing new. CSA executive and board have always been about personal self preservation at the expense of everything else, including the game they are supposed to be advocating for. New leadership every few years, and then goes into a cycle of fighting off other factions that want to take over the direction of the CSA. The politics and infighting are so engrained over the last 40 years.

So, prematurely before any investigation (though we know how these comments are going to skew the "independent investigator"), throwing the coach that singlehandedly pulled the women's and men's teams out of obscurity and brought the CSA a shred of dignity and significance for the first time in decades, is still as easy as some key strokes, and without any hesitation to cast all blame on one person, for an extensive operation that the CSA impossibly could not have helped support.

An Olympic medal years ago come into question? That's nothing to worry about for the CSA Executive and board.

Instead, go on the offensive from the start and blame everyone from John Catliff, Craig Forrest, Alex Bunbuty Vic Rauter, Herdman and Sinclair and probably their own mothers, so that the media in this country and Fifa spotlight doesn't zero in on them and they risk in getting pushed out of their role and thus losing out on the gravy train of Fifa schmoozing from now until July 2026.

Remember this is the organization as far as decision making and investigations, that took over 4 months to investigate and come to a tepid verdict on an open and shut case of racism by a Forge staff member years back.

Singlehandedly? Sure, he led Canada to the World Cup, but he had a great crop of players to choose from, including Alphonso Davies, who is likely to be the best player this country every produces.

Herdman was the architect of the spying program from day one, the emails make that very clear. I don't understand why any self-respecting Canadian would take any pleasure or feel any satisfaction from winning anything by cheating. It goes against everything Canada stands for.

Every team “cheats”. Only Soccer Canada is dumb enough to spotlight it because we are “soooo virtuous”. Other countries just sweep it under the rug; check out Drogba’s response when asked by Ariel Helwani. I imagine Canada will have a hard time attracting top management and coaches moving forward.

Cornelius to Marseille is official. 4 year deal.

From being tossed aside by the Whitecaps to Marseille in 3 years. Amazing.

That’s a really great move for him. Hopefully he can crack the starting lineup and play consistently

Great progress since the days of having to throw Doniel Henry out on the field.

Defenders were never our biggest problem, it was the absolute lack of offensive ability from our attacking players. It wasn't very long ago that Steven Hart used to yell "ideas!" when our players would receive the ball because they inevitably would back pass, side pass, or be devoid of dynamic action going forward. It didn't get much better under Benito Floro (who was much more to blame himself).

It's only with this recent generation of players since Herdman has been in charge that we have a team that can put together fluid offensive play.

We need a striker.

Someone clinical in front of goal. They're generating chances but they've got to start burying them.

Can we Nationalize Miroslav Klose? Just for a little while?
