Initially I thought he was going to draw them to the lake with the fire and then smoke 'em with the RPG.

I too was somewhat disappointed in the use of a rocket launcher to light a fire.

Other than that though what an episode! Loved it.

The townsfolk rampaging against a zombie horde with melee weapons and Gabriel, Eugene and Morgan finally sacking up and getting involved? Fantastic.

And the elimination of that entire family? Finally! Machon totally slaying that little runt was great, I only wish that Carl had done it sooner!

But other than that can anyone, like, understand, like, what, like, Carrie Underwood's, like, opinion was, like, on the show?

And, like, I totally get that she grew up, like, a country farm girl but, like, she like totally like wouldnt survive like, a zombie apocalypse.

If like, for not other reason than like, her companions would, like, kill her themselves.

Though I did actually say 'good!' aloud when the kid died, heheh.

But so much of the episode didn't make sense. I know, I know, 'you're looking for sense in a zombie show?'

I'll admit, I had the Carl eye thing spoiled for me a while back, (in a sense I wouldn't have been surprised if it didn't happen, as I guess the show isn't THAT close to the comics, but knowing it, spoiled the reveal for me) so maybe it didn't have the impact on me it should have, but the whole episode seemed kinda scattered.

The whole first scene had no point other than to tease Negan's name. Which I guess means something for the comic book readers. But it was so pointless. Why would they get out of the truck in the first place? How did Daryl kill the guy so quietly? And the lead biker? Oh I'll kill you, naw I won't kill you, yeah I'll kill you... was that supposed to increase the tension? Just had me bored.

More characters talking about change. Oh, you need to change... you can't change... I'll help you change... I guess I can change...! Blah blah blah. Maybe it was interesting the few dozen times, but if we have to put up with this for every new character that doesn't die...

Glenn survives again. I gotta agree with Fuzz, seems like it's building to something.

But most annoyingly, and they started this thought a bit last year...

What's up with fire and it being a magic weapon against zombies?! Ok, I get that it's bright and noisy and that bright and noisy attracts them, fine.

But if they march right into the fire, wouldn't have someone figured out by now that this is a handy way to dispose of zombies? Not only attracts them, but has them commit suicide? Why not just have settlements with fire pits around the perimeter?

I'm pretty sure the military would have figured this out while fighting zombies. Not only that, but they have a lot of things that can create fire.

And on that note, wasn't there a flashback in season two or something where Shane and Lori watched the military light up Atlanta? At that point it was assumed to be largely ineffective (as it has been in other zombie or post-apocalyptic movies). But if this little lake fire was so effective, I'm pretty sure napalm or whatever it was woulda been fairly useful.

Also, I'm pretty sure we've seen scenes where there was carnage everywhere, with open fires, and fire didn't seem to be that effective before. The zombies didn't up and leave the attack to go immolate themselves.

There's just so many continuity problems in this show.
Oh man, you gotta just let it go.

I use to have those same thoughts, then I decided to jump on for the ride.

I mean just on that scene, I wonder what is the Kill Radius of that rocket?

How can Glenn, not pick up a round or two when two people are firing full auto right at him. Even if the round hit the walkers head it would just smash through and continue on. Setting aside, no body, can hit the broad side of a barn on full auto.

I thought it was great. I couldn't hold off any longer and have read ahead in the comics and they just nailed that episode.

That rampage scene was really well done.

I mean I get what you are saying and I mean it's totally accurate. I mean I also totally liked how she got burned in the poll. I mean that was totally funny.

She was painful. How a woman of her age starts every line with "I mean..." awful.

And a public figure no less! Has no one ever taught her to speak? I mean, like, she must, like, do interviews?

They cant all be that painfully bad.

I'll admit, the kill spree redeemed it a bit for me. Bumped it up to a passible. But for a premiere I was kinda disappointed.

I think I like the creepy over the action. I've never been much of an action guy. But knelt over a trough like cattle? Yes please!

Carl getting shot and Jessie going down didn't creep me out or hit me emotionally. Though, as I said, perhaps part of that was because it was sorta spoiled for me. I don't think that's the whole reason though.

A quick question or clarification... for all those saying 'yay the family is dead!' isn't there one more brother left? Weren't there three brothers. The oldest about 22-24? Or is that a son of the original leaders.

Whomever it was, we saw him in the melee. I thought it was one of the 'annoying' family. But I could be wrong.

No, that was the whole family.

Are you thinking of Mikey? He was Nicholas' kid.

Biggest point to this scene was not only done to tease Negan's name but also, and more importantly, introduce a possible new threat/victims to Negan's group. If you think about it from the perspective of Negan, who the heck are these people who just blew up some of your group. This gives Negan a reason to come to Alexandria.

Without spoiling anything, the entire second half of this season is building to a big change, with new characters that will be introduced in order to move this plot line forward. As to what's gonna happen next episode I have no idea, but I doubt that it will be a filler episode.

That episode confirmed for me that Carl getting shot in the face should have been the mid-season cliffhanger. That would've had a much more gut-punching impact.

I loved that episode, and really we are on season 6 guys, those of you still hanging on and hating on the show I think its time to let her go

As much fun as it is to read the dislike for the show, by now we all know this shows weaknesses and strengths. Nitpicking this show is easy, but if you just take it for what it is, it can be great fun.

Maybe we can start a separate We hate Walking dead?

I thought it was great. Really entertaining & suspenseful. I loved that Gabriel finally stepped up and did something useful. I had seen a picture of comic book Carl missing an eye, so I had an idea it would be happening at some point but to be honest I didn't think Jesse's brat had it in him. Good riddance to that family too. Jesse was cool but if it takes her dying to never see those two little idiots again, so be it. Seriously though, Glenn has super powers or something.

And honestly. If you had the choice between lighting a pond on fire with a match or a rocket launcher, which one would you pick? That was super cool.

Yeah, those kids had to go. You just knew the youngest one was either going to get someone killed eventually or grow up to be a serial killer.

I wonder if they are building up to something with the kids. The younger ones all seem to be developing some rather strange tendencies. Damn apocalypse millennials and their psychopathy.

Agreed. Is one thing if you quit after Season 1 or 2. But the show has essentially been the same in terms of format, atmosphere and overall writing style since then. You know what you're getting. Watching it and hating it at this point is basically suffering self-inflicted wounds!

Personally I thought this episode was one of the best the show has offered so far. It always feels good to see the whole crew coming back together. Like a family reunion.
