I wonder if Detroit is on it. I'm ready for some sort of blockbuster with the Wings.
I want Howard and Nyquist. Smith obviously has to go the other way and he can take Frolik and his ####ing loud mouth agent with him.
Send them whatever it takes to make up the difference and try to sign Nyquist to an extension, maybe even Howard too i suppose.
I don't want to see the best Flames team I've watched in probably 30 years get submarined by a sieve and 3rd liner whining through his agent on twitter.

I'd be looking at a scenario with the Carolina Hurricanes:
Petr Mrazek: 1.5M OR Curtis McElhinney: 0.825M (Need goaltending, #1 need)
Michael Ferland: 1.75M (Need RW depth, #2 need)
Justin Wiliams: 4.5M (Need depth scoring and veteran leadership, #3 need)
For
Smith: 4.25M
And some variety of:
1st through 7th round pick (Everyone loves picks)
Curtis Lazar 0.95M (rebounding in AHL, controlled RFA)
John Gillies 0.75M (Goalie? Who ever knows with goalies?)
Tyler Parsons 0.675M (Goalie? Who ever knows with goalies?)
Mason McDonald .823M (Goalie? Who ever knows with goalies?)
Austin Czarnik 1.5M (Could play a role on Carolina, doesn't fit the system here)
James Neal 5.75M (It's a cost controlled contract that makes sense to take on if you believe James Neal will produce again. He could be good with Terevainen and Aho, and provide the scoring that Ferland was. Salary retention may be required for his contract.)
We likely have some CHL prospects like Joly that we could afford to part with as well.
If we bring home Ferland and McElhinney, that's two more Flames picks for the playoffs, and something inside me really loves having homegrown players on the roster.
