Thing is...if Cody bears Roman and Rock you could make him an even bigger mega star.

This is pretty crazy...I'm not sure it's even just the hardcore fans that seem to dislike it at this point.

https://x.com/wrestleops/status/1753...260442399?s=46

Benoit had to beat Shawn and HHH when they tried to make him the key face.
Bryan had to beat HHH, Orton, and Bautista to become a mega star
Do they make Cody beat The Rock and Roman...it would probably propel him into even more of a star than just beating Roman.

Plus I'm not sure Rock can even work more than a 5 minute match without gassing.

Someone on Twitter pointed out that WWE 2k24 (which has Cody on the cover) has a “Finish the Story” mode and a Special Guest Referee feature… maybe to Rock baits Roman into signing a contract that is actually a match against Cody with Rock as special guest referee? This would ensure no Bloodline interference this time.

They can try to spin it all they want, but if this doesn't end with Cody beating Roman, it absolutely neuters his "finish the story" arc and makes Cody look like a clown.

EDIT: The memes coming out of this are gold.

This has to end with Cody pinning Roman.

I am so disappointed right now.

Reigns and Rock, hey? Sure why not. I don't even know what's going on in WWE anymore but sounds like a Mania moment lol

If true I've lost respect for The Rock. And I've read not only does he want the match but he wants to win it.

The guy has had his glory and doesn't need it. Let someone who is actually a full-timer get their WrestleMania moment and then have your match with Roman after.

More and more I do wonder if they are trying to work the fans.

The leaks of this being pushed by the Rock which have drawn the Hogan comparisons.

Rock really leaning into it on Twitter and Instagram the last couple days.

I did find it funny the song he used for his most recent Instagram post was "Going Bad"

Vince was super tone deaf and that was expected...but HHH and The Rock have to have known that this was the reaction they'd get. That or the The Rock's ego is bigger than anyone could have thought...but it really feels like two of the guys that knew how to draw heat better than anybody in the industry would know what this was going to do.

Cody is drawing even more support and is an even bigger face than he was before this all happened on Friday.

People are talking about the event more than they were previously and The Rock is generating a ton of heel heat.

A part of me thinks, are they working toward Cody being in both championship matches? Or maybe night 1 there's a Cody vs Rock match with the winner facing Roman the next night?

Yeah definitely a work. And it’s working - Cody is hotter than one of the biggest stars of the Attitude Era right now

Hope this means we somehow get Hollywood Rock

I've said it before, the best the Rock ever was in promos, was the small window just after he left the Nation of Domination but before he turned face. It was literally a 3-5 month window in 1998.

Not that the stuff that followed from him wasn't amusing, until it became cliched, but it was a really weird time when he was still a heel and was fighting other heels like Farooq. But his promos at the time were as good and funny as they ever were but werent pushed. WWF eventually started giving more airtime to the promos and his popularity really took off with the resultant push, and even though his promos weren't any better, though he got more catch phrases, whether it was him as a corporate heel or face or back again, the rest is history.

He's smart enough to play this game to keep fans guessing and drive up clicks and viewership with this Rhodes thing. TKO has its part in this as well, and you think the whole company will go to great lengths, even if it means Rock heel turn, to make sure the Netflix people are happy with their new deal AND just as importantly do all the company can to keep as much attention off of the Vince situation.

The Rock has been shredded on SM all weekend.

It's funny how people have turned on him, he was never one to politic his way into things that was Triple H.

THe Rock was the best on the mic and for the WWF when Steve Austin was hurt. I recall him losing to bums like the Hurricane. He gave the belt to Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar launching them into stars. It would be really weird of him to block someone when he isn't even in the business anymore.

Also Goldust brother being the biggest star in the business now? The guy looks boring and dull as anyone.

The Rock didn't do much politik back in the day, but things change. He torched the entire Shazam franchise by taking its lead villain for Christ's sake. They say things were os never necessarily the way things are. As for Cody, he's over as all hell so there is no arguing with it. White meat baby face the mose over wrestling star in 2024. Never would have guessed it, but here I am cheering for it.

Now for news that's doesn't make me weep on the inside: CM Punk is expected to take an announcing role while injured.

Yeah the Hollywood stuff aside, what does he have to do with wrestling now anyways. He is old now, what will having a match accomplish for him?

Doesn't seem like his business ventures have done well, but I don't think he is hurting for money?

IMO there is only one way to book your way out of this.

1) Make the whole "Rock counciled Cody" to give him the match a heel ploy that was masterminded by the Elders of the Bloodline. Bloodline felt threatened by Cody and wanted to remove him.

2) Cody learns of this deception and not only challenges Reigns at WM, but wants the Rock too. Leading to Rock vs Reigns vs Cody at WM40. This also protects the Rock because really no chance can he work a full 1:1 match without blowing up, but a triple threat will give him rest time.

3) The Rock and Reigns of course come to blows in the match and it creates the dissention between the two of them. Reigns loses, blames The Rock, and they attack him the next night on Raw in a violent assault. This removes Rock from TV for a bit but also actually gives them an actual reason for a true 1:1 match at Wrestlemania (really it makes no sense for them to be fueding now considering the last time we saw Rock and Reigns together The Rock was helping him).

4) Cody wins the title, and finishes his story.

I am going to put on my "Captain Crunch" Fantasy Booking Hat and take you all down a strange thought I had.

Cody doesn't say much. He just keeps cutting his baby face promos and getting over as the crowds keep cheering harder and harder for him.

Seth challenges Cody to a match at wrestlemania, this is an important distinction. Cody accepts.
Rock challenges Roman. Roman balks but eventually somehow ends up in the match.
We get our build up. Cody beats Seth. Roman injures Rock in a match that is the traditional interference laden and sees the Rock take out all of Roman's lackeys but leave him unable to continue. Roman declares himself the winner. Cody comes out to check on the Rock, who is being huddled around by WWE execs worried about their board member. Because Cody never actually got to pick his opponent like the Rumble winner gets to do (Seth challenged Cody) Rock uses his executive power to order one last match for this Wrestlemania. Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns. Cody climbs into the ring and finishes his own story in what is finally a true one on one match for Roman. Rock does the right thing and passes the torch, while still looking strong and helping the new face of the WWE. You get a throwback to Hart and Hogan (two people Rock loves). And you get the proper conclusion to this whole ####ing thing.

I'll try one.

Cody, comes in as a face, loses to Seth.
Cody comes in during the main event in hits rock with a chair, Reigns pins Rock.

Both Cody and Reigns leave WM as seething red hot heels.

Scott D'amore has been fired by TNA wrestling. Its bizarre because TNA has improved quite a bit lately.

Maybe AEW should jump on him, and I'm not saying that as a snark joke.

There's no way that happens without some sort of problem or scandal. D'Amore is the leaving, breathing epitome of TNA and was the one creating great buzz about the refresh and getting more eyes on the product. That roster has been loyal to him too.

If this is just Anthem being corporate jerks, then yes AEW or another competitor should pick him up.
