Usually the internal candidate doesn't just quit the organization when he doesn't get the promotion.

If he's hit a dead end with the organization he does.

This wasn't Manager of Walmart he didn't get. This sort of thing happens all the time.

This was an upwards demotion IMO. He was told "you're not GM and maybe we will will keep you on, but you have to interview".

It happens a lot more than you think. People feel slighted for being passed over for promotions often look for new opportunities but typically they won’t up and quit immediately but they will begin the search for a new job and quit once they find something.

I have seen it multiple times in the companies I have worked for.

That's the thing. Mellanby didn't wait to find something. He threw away his salary for the rest of this season, or however long his contract has to run, without having another job lined up… because Habs.

@FriedgeHNIC

Hearing that BOS and Jake DeBrusk are working on the possibility of a fresh start for the player. Told nothing is imminent at this time, but something to keep an eye on.

I could see Edmonton being interested. Not sure how they would do it to make the cap work though.

Oh, were the full terms of Mellanby’s departure disclosed?

Is it not plausible that they say ‘where do we go from here?’, discuss what the rest of the year looks like, and Habs can pay Mellanby out while allowing him the optics of leaving at least somewhat of his own volition?

Maybe Flames should trade for Debrusk? Forgive me, i'm not too familiar with Debrusk, and what type of player he is

It's reported that he quit. Usually when you do that, you don't get paid and you lose any claim to severance pay or other contractual benefits.

There's been discussion about buying out Monahan which I think would be better served trying to trade him retained. He's only on the books until end of next season anyways and if we can do some cap gymnastics we can resign Gaudreau.

Even Monahan retained for say 2 million, would be better than buying him out because we get an asset in Kravtsov. This clears space for us and still have 3.6 million until TDL.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Backlund - Kravtsov
Coleman - Dube - Pitlick
Lucic - Richardson - Lewis
Ruzicka

Just don’t see the Rangers taking on that much cap for a player who may be broken.

I doubt that Monny would get claimed on waivers right now.

Cap is King.

Hockey player

Edit: I joke.

25 years, 6ft, left handed and LW.

70 goals and 70 assists in 244 games so far, and from what I take he's a utility player. Not really too flashy.

Philly has been on a skid. Fans and media seem to be talking blow up again... I wonder if we could snag Giroux for a run at the cup.

He has 2 more years at $4.25M but I wonder about Toffoli if Montreal is going to consider blowing it up.

Right shot RW, history with Sutter, history with Monahan.

I suppose he could flounce off and sit on a hilltop in Vermont, and thereby forfeit the $20,000 a day that he's being paid for doing nothing much.

Get some Lindholm family in and go for Jarnkrok. Solid guy. Having a poor year but history of pure steady eddy.

Flames need a scorer. But what asset we have? Monahan and draft pick? I don't want give up our prospects and Dube. If Monahan is traded, will Johnny re-sign?
