Deadpool & Wolverine was more than what I had hoped for, complete with cameos and surprises. I successfully went into the film completely unspoiled, although I had a few hunches about who might make an appearance. Ryan Reynolds has the emotional range of a Starbucks umbrella and gets on my nerves faster than any actor, but you got to hand it to the guy, he knows his audience. Unfortunately he's in almost every scene; thankfully, Hugh Jackman is there to level the teeter-totter.
I'm not even going to try and do a write-up without spoilers:
Spoiler!
I was genuinely surprised to see Chris Evans appear in the Void, and chuckled when it dawned on me he had to be playing Johnny Storm. He clearly had as much fun reprising the role, right down to his deliberately sharp contrast to Steve Rogers. I did hope we would also get to see Michael B. Jordan's Johnny Storm (or anyone from the Fox FF reboot). The timelines and multiverses are already so screwed up, confusing things any more is long past being an issue.
Didn't at all expect to see Wesley Snipes return as Blade. I legit laughed out loud when Blade said we’d never see the character again, and Deadpool slowly turned and looked into the camera. Gambit’s silly inclusion (with that deliberately dumb outfit) was amusing, but nothing special. Thank god (pick a god, any god!) we never got a Channing Tatum Gambit movie. The best returnee was X-23, and while I was grateful she was more than just a glorified cameo, I wish she had a bit more to work with.
The film provided poignant stories for not just Deadpool, but also this version of Wolverine. I liked the journey Wade went on to save his friends, proving once and for all, against his own desires, he truly became a hero. The movie had a ton of heart, which is sorta Shawn Levy’s thing.
While we didn't get much more than a sample of this flawed Wolverine, I still greatly enjoyed seeing him begrudgingly conquer his demons. I’m still not sure if he’s our Wolverine, or some other version in the multiverse—I honestly gave up caring a few years ago—but I still loved how this film honoured his conclusion in Logan.
Emma Corrin as the whatsherface villain didn’t particularly strike a chord with me. She's not at the same calibre as Jackman and Reynolds, but she was still fun to watch with what little she was given to work with.
The antagonist was definitely one of the most glaring weaknesses of the movie. That's been a trend since the end of Infinity War.
"Metapool" might be my favourite part of Deadpool & Wolverine. Thanks to Deadpool's complete disregard to the fourth wall, he's aware that he's in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that it desperately needs saving.

I saw it. I enjoyed it. It was a bit disappointing how few Deadpool characters were in it, like the gang was barely involved and it was a weird choice to have the whole thing revolve around him getting rejected from the Avengers and quit superhero-ing. What happened to Domino?
I'm not sure how I feel about CN being the bad guy. I thought she was done pretty much perfectly but it feels like a waste if it was a one off.

Finally got out to Deadpool & Wolverine and while I enjoyed it, if there ever was a movie geared towards the tik Tok generation it's this one. It honestly reminded me of the first Suicide Squad (which I like so it's not a knock) with how many pop songs there were. It seemed like every 10 minutes there was an epic slow motion fight with a pop song slowed down in the background. If it wasn't for the cameos I don't think this movie gets the hype it's getting.
Not a movie, but Batman: Caped Crusader is out on Prime. Produced and written by Bruce Timm, the man behind The Animated Series. Hamish Linklater is doing Batman's voice but it sounds like he's channeling Kevin Conroy for the performance. Reviews have been great.

It definitely wouldn't but if you're making a crazy multiverse movie, all the cameos is what you want.
This movie was pure fan service with some heart to hold it together. The plot/motivation was pretty thin but if you're a fan of the Fox/MCU movies and the comics it was awesome.
Definitely not a movie to hyper-analyze. Just sit back and enjoy the spectacle.

Just watched it in total awe! A surprisingly darker, more mature version of the Dark Knight that fully embraces its noir-ish roots. Mix in some stunning animation and this feels both fresh and familiar. Highly recommend!

I don't want to put words in your mouth, but it kinda sounds like the music detracts from the film?
Music is crucial in film and TV, with its ability to evoke powerful emotions and nostalgia. The use of well-known songs--even annoying and cloy pop songs, especially when slowed down--creates a poignant atmosphere and can even enhance the storytelling.
This isn't just for the tik tok generation; it's a deliberate artistic choice that taps into our collective cultural memory. You see it in commercials all the time, using music to evoke specific emotions and memories deliberately chosen from and/or targeted towards a specific generation.
While the cameos add to the hype, the soundtrack is essential in creating a more immersive and resonant experience. Music in film and marketing makes the product more appealing and unforgettable.

I binged it all today too. It's so good. Hell of tease at the end as well.
Deadpool & Wolverine was lots of fun. Feels like I'm gonna have to watch it again to catch even half of what's in it, or wait for the eventual frame by frame breakdown video.

I agree with you if used sparingly to give a scene a little extra importance or fun a needle drop can be very effective . Think about Goodfellas with And then he kissed me or Wayne's World Bohemian Rhapsody (our entire generation first heard that song from that movie and fell in love with it). Both took iconic songs and did something creative with them. Now whenever I hear either song I recall those movies and scenes. With DP3 there were so many I already forget most of the songs, it just came across as generic. You could literally re arrange the songs and put them in different fight scenes and my enjoyment of the scene wouldn't change.

Just watched it, and for me, the soundtrack was perfect for the movie. Right down to Eric Carmen near the end. I loved every song and it added to an rather fun film to watch.

I'm only 1 episode in, but its got the feel to it. I'm definitely going to finish it.

And another thing! I'm watching this show and...how is JJ Abrams involved to the point of getting an Executive Producer credit?
Its like you escape this clown! He's everywhere! Its actually getting annoying.
Abrams is like Kurtzmann or Kennedy....how do they keep 'failing up?'

I liked D&W quite a bit more the 2nd time. Not only did I see it in a much better theatre but knowing what to expect, it allowed me to enjoy and appreciate how funny and yet heartfelt it was. Such a great love letter to the Fox universe.
Still didn’t love
Spoiler!
The Deadpools fight. Not only were they largely inconsequential, they were the only “cameos” that fell flat for me. I don’t care about Blake Lively or Mathew McConaughey did voices. Or some rando from Wrexham. And they weren’t characters who had a story to tell. Given that scene was teased in all the trailers, the fact the fight was so low impact against whatever characters, it was the weak point for me. Especially after that amazing fight with the Fox exiles in the void. Would have hit so much harder against other higher profile exiles or meaningful characters. Not sure I have better suggestions assuming Liev Schreiber wasn’t available. Needed a proper Wolverine berserker rage scene a la X2.
I also didn’t love how it was the only scene where the CGI took me out of it. Logan looked like a video game character the whole scene.
I also wish X-23 had a larger role but she already got a movie.
Otherwise I love all the cameos and Easter eggs, I thought the plot worked better this time that I knew the story beats. I had perhaps unfair expectations thinking this would be the story of how Deadpool entered the MCU instead of the story of how he saved the Fox universe. But we’ll find out in Secret Wars I take it. I liked the meta commentary that that the plot works on how Deadpool was fighting for the fox universe from destruction. Not just within the plot but with Paradox/Cassandra representing Disney killing it.

"You're really no fun!
Batman: "No. I'm not."
Classic.

Deadpool and Wolverine was great. I think both were good again in their roles but I really enjoyed Jackman's Wolverine in this one, very stand out performance.
Definitely want to go see it again soon.

D&W was a lot fun and knows exactly what it is. Jackman was awesome best parts are when he's at the centre. You could tell he was having fun with a different Logan being able to lean more into the cartoonish stuff). I enjoyed it throughout.
Minor gripes*
Spoiler!
-Letting Wolverine finally don the mask with a crappy CGI thing irked me to no end. It looked so much better when it was actually on him, why does the first time have to be this CG f***fest? "Well he couldn't pull it over that way and have it look smooth" People like the tangible even if feels clunkier. Like Ironman's mask dropping over his face with a 'clank' vs silly nano bots. Sure the nano suit is cool, but I still want the 'clank' at the end. You'd think Reynolds would put a foot down on stuff like that given Green Lantern etc.. I really do think small things like that disconnect people from the movie.
- I had thought that at one point Wolverine would lose his arms (likely via Deadpool's swords) and thats why he lost the sleeves at one point but maybe kept the gloves (pulling his gloves off his own arms could have been a funny thing). But then whatever happened with his sleeves was either cut out or they just decided to lose them at one point for fun.
To the points above, I would say the direction wasn't the best and it seemed oddly edited at parts. The music didn't bother me as needle drops so much as it just seeming weirdly edited into the scene that felt off-rhythm to me.
Deadpool as a side character would be great but it's an obnoxious character when he's the lead. Too many moments are absolutely ruined with Ryan Reynolds high pitched sarcasm. Far and away the best parts are when Hugh Jackman is Wolverine; was really worried this would soil his legacy after he walked away in Logan but the guy kills it, he's so good. It took me a long time to appreciate him and his love for the character.
Will keep this spoiler free but there some fantastic genuinely funny moments, just not for Ryan Deadpool's quips and overuse of
"funny music for action scene" that the series leans on way too much. (Spoilers - the car fight scene especially) Reynold desperate need to wedge a tiny chuckle at ever corner nearly ruins cool moments, and does in some cases. And breaking the 4th wall is funny when a character actually breaks it. If you continually do it for cheap laughs the affects wears off.
Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfaudem were huge bright spots.

I also found Deadpool to be great fun. Helps to have both the Fox movies and MCU to make fun of with lots of laughs and opportunities for fan service and cameos. The story is a bit of a mess with the villains only exisiting to move to plot along and some of the more emotional moments not really hitting. Also just because you make fun of the multiverse it doesn’t change that this is a multiverse movie. The story doesn’t really matter though in a Deadpool movie that is all about the meta and everything kind of fits together to provide a satisfying conclusion. Will give this a 9 which sits it in between the first and second movies.
Was a rare experience watching this is a packed theatre. Damn it was an expensive night out though. Can see why theatres are struggling when it’s only worthwhile to see big budget experience films in theatres with every thing else saved for streaming at home.
