Typical Rays baseball this inning. Soft hits that somehow get guys on base and score runs

Yeah bad Berrios today. Shame since he has a good run the last 6-7 starts (including one against these guys).
Edit: I agree the hits are soft but if you’re not striking people out then the babip gods will get you:

This is especially awful timing, given the bullpen is taxed.
Oh, and 3 more against the Rays coming right up.
This could be a very ugly and uncomfortable few days ahead

He has had a tendency to suck in like 25% of his appearances. And I mean really suck. But the other 75% has been good which is part of why the team this year has the best record when he pitches. Anyway his velocity isn’t down but it’s clear there is some issues with the release point and four seamer that need fixing. It’s hard to see this and then see the guy who struck out 13 earlier this year or 10+ several times.

Why was I excited for this game? The Jays are going to get swept. It's just what happens at the Trop.

At this point just put in Kichuchi and let him finish the game no matter how bad. This pen needs a rest and we badly need to take 1-2 games from this series

How much do we pay Kichuchi again? And we can’t even use him in situations like these?
If the rest of the weekend goes the way its feeling. We should embrace 6th, and manage the SP and bullpen effectively.

6th would be better than 5th, but would suck to lose our grasp on 4th for sure.
Orioles not out of it either with 3 still against us

Well. Merrifield hitting two bombs is dope. If he can become half the player he used to be that would be great for the stretch. But the Trop did Trop things tonight. I'm really hoping the Jays can win 2 of 3 to split. So ####ing sick of the Rays.

Yup. Would have been Manoah on regular rest tomorrow, but they made the swap so Manoah is on target for game 162.
Jays have just unecessarily thrown a grenade on their season. I don’t know what’s happening

Why have they thrown a grenade on their season? Manoah is still pitching this series as is Stripling. These games against Tampa really doesn’t mean much. They are making the playoffs Baltimore and White Sox are too far behind now. All this is is a seeding battle between Seattle, Tampa and Toronto. And it’s an odd one where while you want to be first you likely don’t want to be second. You would like to be at home but if you just finish second you likely burned out your pitching and now you’re on the road at Seattle or Tampa. You play conservative and maybe you lose spots but maybe going in there rested and facing Cleveland is better. Regardless I don’t think there is some clear cut best option for what they want to happen other than winning the division and NYY is just too far ahead for that now.
